Every time I try to launch SL it says it cant connect to a simulator.

I just joined and havnt even done anything yet.No groups nothing, I was never even on before. I logged out and back in and waited but nothing seems to work. Suggestions? Thanks

Haven't done anything, including haven't joined any groups?  One very common cause for that error is wearing a group tag that has "illegal" characters (like hearts, Japanese kanji, or geometric symbols) in it.  If you were wearing such a group tag when you logged out, SL won't let you back in.  The only real solution, I'm afraid, is to go in world as an alt (an av on a different account) and convince the owner of the group to eject you. If you're a Premium member of SL, I suppose you can try talking with Live Chat to see if there's some way that they can do it for you instead.

Something you could do is go to the approved list of viewers and try downloading a SL approved viewer to see if you can log in through that? You could also try installing the program then reinstalling it (not sure that would work but its worth a try)

Hello Stheno and welcome to SL Forums. Usually the problem is relative with invalid characters in your group tag but you write that you have never join in any group. My feeling is that it was relative with the Rolling restarts and Landstore Maintenance we had yesterday. See: http://status.secondlifegrid.net/   If yes, now it must to be resolved. Try to log in protected lands arrounds like Smith or Lime.
