Is it safe to download SL onto a Windows 7 Starter Netbook?

I have a windows 7 starter netbook and I really want to download second life onto it...but IDK if its really safe...Help?

Your concern would be will SecondLife burn up your graphics card, I gather.

Here are the minimum requirements, if your netbook meets the requirements, go for it, if not, you can still try but you more than likely will not enjoy the experience.

Probably safe, but unless they have improved the graphics on netbooks, it is likely not to run.  Or if it does, will run poorly.   Sorry

I don't think it will burn up the graphics adapter (I really don't think a network has the capacity to have a "card")...........I just think SL will not run at all.  If you get to the log in page, that's about as far as I expect any netbook will get (unless heavily tweaked by someone who knows what they are doing).

I have run SL on an eMachine d250 with no problems other than very low frame rate.

Windows 7 starter 32 bit

Intel Atom at 1.66ghz

intel 945 on board graphics

memory upgraded to 2MB

while I wouldn't recommend this as the only computer to run second life on, It is useful to pop in and check messages or stand still and chat. Using the current release ( as of 05/17/2012) of the linden labs viewer i get around 3 frames per second with this netbook. Voice chat, text chat, and sound work well.

when I first started in SL over a year and a half ago I only used this netbook. The previous versions of the LL viewer circa 2.1 (depending on graphics settings) would get up to 10 fps on this tiny computer.
