Question

Hello! I got SL yesterday, installed the default viewer and whilst I could access different worlds and see the names of other players, no avatars or elements of the world load in properly. I left the game running for long periods of time and have tried editing my cache and bandwidth sizes as well as clearing my cache. I have since tried alternative viewers like firestorm, but these issues persist. Any idea what this could be? My network is running fine and I can still connect

Here are my specs:

Firestorm 6.6.17 (70368) Dec 10 2023 18:36:33 (64bit / SSE2) (Firestorm-Releasex64) with Havok support

You might want to change the texture memory VRAM setting., you should be using at least half of the card's vram, not 1/12th.

I'd lower that to 128m

I'd lower that too, maybe half that value.

Do you clear the cache often? if so, STOP.

With your rig, response should be blazing fast!

I use an ancient business quad-core with a 2GB graphics card, and I'm okay -- because I use the Firestorm Viewer, turn off both Transparent Water and Advanced Lighting Model, and MOST IMPORTANTLY take my Draw Distance down to 48 meters.  Your Draw Distance is what's killing your performance.
