I have a friend who registers as "offline," even when she's standing right in front of me!  So, I delete her as a friend, then ask for friendship, and she appears as online, but it causes my other friends - who are standing right in front of me - to register as "offline!"  Can you help?

Hmmm this sounds like it could be a number of things. What have you done to troubleshoot? 
 

Have you tried: 

-Clearing your Cache? 
-Restarting your internet router in RL

- Rebooting your PC? 
-Checked the SLgridStatus for any reported errors?
