Buying a gift with store credit

I realise rules may vary from one store to another, but generally speaking - does anyone know if it's possible to use store credit to buy a gift for another person?

Depends on the store and the vendor system they use.

What you could do if buy the giftee a gift card and give them the card to buy something. while it could depend on the vendor system i have not come across a vendor that allows you to send a gift with accrued credit

That would make it way to easy to "game" the system so I suspect it will be highly unlikely that you would find that. One reason a lot of gift cards are now turned into STORE CREDIT before being used --- this relates to gift cards given out as presents by the store owners.

Thanks for the replies.🙂  I only asked as I have some store credit for a particular store where I can't find anything I want to buy for myself, but I know there is something my friend would like from there, so I was hoping I could use my store credit to buy it for her.
