has "llSetParcelMusicURL" been deprecated?

Nope, it's not deprecated. The only "caveats" I see on the wiki are these: "The object owner must also be the land owner. If the land is deeded to a group the object will need to be deeded to the same group for this function to work."

Are you sure the URL itself is still valid? Sometimes internet radio streams go temporarily-off-line or permanently-out-of-business. Have you tried setting the URLs you're using manually using your Land button?

And, are you sure you sound system is working? And that "parcel music" isn't disabled or muted anywhere in your viewer? Can you hear parcel music when visiting other parcels?

Many SL radios went out of commission a month or so ago when SomaFM started blocking access to all its streams. (That may be irrelevant here, though.)

Thanks,

I've checked all the usual things and I made and wrote the script for the radios myself.  I thought it had to be either the ownership or the script.  The stations I use don't go offline, but the answer is below apparently.  😕

This is it entirely.  the SomaFM thing.  They are pretty much the only stations worth playing at all in SL, so all my radios use their stuff.

Thanks for the info.  🙂

Really? Not that I've seen. There are all kinds of internet radio stations that play well on parcel radios in Second Life (and about 80% of them play well on media-on-a-prim (MOAP) radios as well; however, the other 20% don't, because MOAP is more finicky than parcel sound streams are). For one thing, just about every major over-the-air radio station on Earth now also has an internet stream.

Here's about 100 radio streams for you that I've collected over the last few years:

stations worth playing

Also, if you want a parcel radio with most of those streams already in it, I suggest going to Rancourt in Zindra and drop by the house with the big US flag and see what's on the table out front; you might find something to your liking.

I can't figure out why unless "llSetParcelMusicURL" no longer works?

Oh, and, I forgot to add earlier, an LSL function becoming "deprecated" or "obsolete" or even "no-longer-compileable" won't stop already-compiled scripts using it from working. Running scripts keep on running, because proximately they're running from already-compiled bytecode, and ultimately they're running as machine language on one or more computers, server-side and/or client side. (I think most or all LSL scripts run server-side, no? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.)

Now, if you try to re-compile a script using a function that's deprecated, then you'll get warnings; or if the function is "no longer supported" you'll get an error and it won't compile. So it's best not to recompile very-old scripts that are running and working well; let sleeping dogs lie, or they may bite.

I thank you greatly

You're quite welcome. I found those streams in various places: random parcels in SL where they were playing; radios on SL Marketplace; jukeboxes in bars; etc.

About a third of them are from a single jukebox in Arthur's Bar in Bay City in NW Sansara at Truro (75, 148, 25). That's a great little place to hang out and listen to tunes on the jukebox, which is basically a parcel radio using llSetParcelMusicURL() to change the parcel's stream. But turn "media" sound off in your viewer or the sound from the TV interferes.

The "Baroque 1" stream you cite, though, I found at "Church Of The Cannibal Christ" in Leonard's Field in Zindra. (You may wish to abstain if you're religious, though; it's highly... ummm... irreverent.)

Not a problem, "Non credo, ergo sum"

I do actually know that parcel, it's just I so rarely have parcel media turned on that I would have missed it. Mostly I have my own music playing on the big speakers. I find it hard to concentrate fully when modern music is playing, hence my love of Buxxtehude, Vivaldi, etc.

modern music

Well, there are all degrees of modernity. If you mean "20th & 21st Century UK & US pop & rock", I, also, find those to be "not really my favorite genres". Oh, there are things in those genres I like, but very hit-and-miss. (How many times can one hear the same guitar chord progressions without getting bored?) However, there are many more kinds of "modern music". For some really interesting and eclectic "modern music", check out the "New Sounds" stream at "http://q2stream.wqxr.org/q2".
