internet works but when I try to log in it says this error message dns could not resolve host name

Check if u have the PROXY configuration into SL propreties

Or Check you Firewall propreties. You have to add an exception into the firewall ( if u have one )

A solution for your problem described at the following url and it seems that works:

You need to add the following additional DNS servers to your DNS settings in Network settings under System Preferences:

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

If it doesn't work for you, you can download a previous version of Viewer 2 here , setting your your software updates NO to be installed automatically. (Preferences --> Setup --> Hardware)

Your connection can appear fine for everything on the internet but still not be stable enough for SL. SL is VERY sensitive.
