Just trying to clarify a bit -

It appears that you hear sound when you put a music URL into your "About Land" sound tab?

Regarding the radio which worked on your houseboat but not on your mainland parcel - is your parcel owned by you or is it group-owned?  Sometimes with radios, if you are not the owner of the parcel, they need to be deeded to the group if the land is deeded to a group (or to the land owner) so that the radio can put the music URL into "About Land" sound tab.

You hear sound when you watch Youtube videos on your TV but with other functions from the TV you get the plug-in not supported window and no sound?

You might want to check with the specific TV vendor to see if they have an in-world support group, and ask there. You are more likely to find a larger pool of users that are familiar with that particular TV there, than here in the forums.   Again, if your mainland parcel is group owned, check the documentation that came with the TV to see if there are special things that need to be done to use it on group land.  (I've never had or used a TV in SL, so I don't know what the requirements might be, if any,  on group land).

HI Moira,

the land on the mainland is owned by me  and the land is deeded to my home group, in about land it has owner as group owned.    the dollarbie radie was deeded to the group and still didnt work...   I tried having it set to the group and still didnt work..   the radio has 36 preset stations none work....The Strange part I did have sound and then all of a sudden i was gone...I have been on this land since for several years..

Looking in about land,  I did claim an abandoned piece of land to extend my land on Nov 25, 2020 ,, before that it was showing the original date of when I claimed it,  I want to say around 2013.    I am wondering if I did something when I joined the two lands together.  I know I had no problems with sound before

As for the TV it was working before.   I will contact support on that...

hi Moira,  have a question,  I think the issue is with the deed .. since the land is group owned ,  not by me... even though I created the group.  could that an issue ?   Possible I can undeed it and then redeed it ?

You mentioned joining in a parcel of land a couple of months ago - it's been awhile since I've done that and don't remember what all needs to be reset.  I'd double check in about land to doublecheck whether the land is deeded to the group or just set to the group.

If the land is group owned, then the radio most likely needs to be deeded to the group also*.  To do so, edit the radio - in the edit window "General" tab, make sure the group showing is your land group.  Then click on "Share" (right under the group name - this should make the "deed" button active) and then click on the "Deed" button.   The owner of the radio should then display as the land group name.

If the land is just set to the group (shows your name as owner) and the radio is still deeded to the group, then the radio would have to be undeeded from the group so that you show as owner of the radio.

* this has been my experience so far, with the limited number of radios I have had - basically owner of the radio and owner of the land need to be the same

Also, since it might be an older radio, the stations it has loaded my not be valid anymore. Music stations listed in the SL wiki often don't work either.  That may be the issue with radio.  I have a bunch of stations on a note card that no longer work.

That I can understand it being an older radio.  the stations are valid in the radio,  since I have the same one in the LL houseboat that I have and it works perfectly there,  I have sound at the LL houseboat.. its my main house on the mainland.  that I have no sound ... with the same radio.  I have tried both way , I have deeded the radio to the group and still doesnt't work , I have rezzed a new one and just set it to the group and still doesn't works.

i purchased the abandon parcel next to my land from Guy Linden..  he walked me thru joining both lands.  Maybe i did something in setting in about land.  it has owner as Group Owned

That looks correct for being group-owned land.

Did you say that if you put a music URL in the "About Land" Sound tab, you can hear the music?

I'm trying to think of what might affect hearing sound from the radio at one of your locations, but not the other, and I'm drawing a blank on anything other than the group-owned / deeded item aspect.

Is it the type of radio that when you click on it,  a menu displays of stations and other options?  If so, does it still do that, and when you choose a station, does it or does it not put the station's URL in the "About Land" sound tab?  Does it give you any messages in local chat?

And one last question - perhaps a dumb one, because I'm running out of things to ask - but, once you've clicked the radio on and selected a station, did you click on the little music note icon in the viewer top bar (the stop/start parcel audio stream)?   Sometimes I've gone somewhere where I didn't want to hear their parcel audio and stopped the parcel audio stream in the viewer.  When I got back to my parcel I had to click it to start it back up again, to hear my parcel's radio stream.   I'd double check the volume level for music in the viewer, too.

I deeply appreciate both of your help.

What I did this morning .  for  Rowan.   I got a redelivery of the  radio from MP,  Rezzed it out in both home.. .  The Linden home, had sound... was able to change station. and still able to hear the next station. Rezz it at home put on the same station and no sound...

For Moira... I am able to enter a URL in the Sound tab in about land.. and hear it ..

Radio does have menus to go thru to pick a station   It will put an URL  in the Sound Tab in About Land.

I am able to turn Sound on and off the houseboat... leave it at the same volume and teleport home the Sound Icon remains off.    I am unable put the Sound Icon on at home.

I also noticed in About Land on the Houseboat.. in Sound Tab  the Radio URL for the station that I am listening to

At home... In About Land,  Under the Sound tab there is no URL listed... unless I manually put one it..   As you can see below

At your home, if there is no URL listed in About Land, you will not be able to put the Sound Icon on - there needs to be a URL stream in About Land first.

The main difference that I see is that one place is a Linden home, which cannot be group owned - so is owned by your avatar name - and your home parcel which is group owned (and may need the radio "deeded" to the group that owns the land before it can be used at the home parcel).   There is more to deeding an item to a group than just "setting" the item to the land group.

Did you do all of these steps on the radio at your home parcel:

 - In the edit window "General" tab for the radio, make sure the group showing is your land group - if not, set it to your land group

- Then, click on "Share" (right under the group name - this should make the "deed" button active)

- Then click on the "Deed" button.   The owner of the radio should then re-display as the land group name.

If you have done all of those steps, and the radio will not populate the URL stream in "About Land", I would contact the creator to see if the radio is supposed to be usable on group owned land.
