Lately, whenever I close SL (there is a red x at the top right) I get a text document on my desktop named avatar_lad. Inside, it has a lot of data that to me looks like avatar (I know, surprise) information. What is it, why is it there and should I be concerned. Thank you all, I will check back in several hours. Thanks.

I did a bit of searching and came up with this page from the wiki where the Linden Avatad Description is specified. It seems there is no need to be concerned. The Avatar_LAD.xml file is used by the viewer (or was since I don't know if it is relevant for viewer 2. I assume it is) but, as far as I can tell from the description of the file, it should not show up on your desktop. Don't know why it does that, though. Perhaps removing some setting files from wherever they are on windows and setting up the viewer again will help to put it back in the right place?

Which viewer are you running?

It shouldn't really be that way, although the file in question is a harmless xml description of your ava. Nevertheless, I would uninstall the viewer, delete any visible remains and do a clean install.
