camera just zooms way out

anytime i anchor mycamera (ALT+left click)  if I try to rotate around what I'm looking at, it just zooms hundreds of meters out instead.  I've tried it with the basic viewer, and with firestorm, both have the same results.  is there some setting I'm missing?

menu Advanced \ Debug Settings \ DisableMouseWarp, set to True

depending on type of mouse this can sometimes help
