Ford Lusch
Hi All, Pretty new to Mesh and Blender so apologies if this is a stupid question. I've been playing around with using a Torus and got to the point of baking the texture onto it. It's all looking good when I take it in world apart from one thing. Where there is a shadow from the bake the texture looks blocky, you can see the squares as the shadow grows darker and darker. I've attached a screenshot to see the effect. I've tried varying the render setting in Blender from anywhere between 200 and 1000 but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I've set the image to be 512 x 512 so would it be better at 1024? Any suggestions how to remove the blocky look of the bake? Thanks
Wulfie Reanimator
I'm not at home to test but it seems like you'd benefit from having more lights set up, to make the shadows "softer." There might be other settings but I don't recall off the top of my head. That's not a resolution issue, the shadows look to be caused by the actual topology. Kyrah Abattoir
Are you baking from a smooth shaded mesh? cause this kinda looks like flat shading getting baked in.
Ford Lusch
Some extra lighting seemed to really help, so thanks for the tip on that.
