Because it is a grandfathered sim, it must be paid in Linden not USD, ask any Linden before you get upset at me please.

I was told the exact opposite from a linden when I bought my GF sim. Is this a new policy? Is there any documentation they pointed you to?  Does it still go through the LL process? I was told that’s the best/only was to get the server transferred to my account. Sounds really strange to me.

Transferring Private Regions

Important: If the buyer's payment fails for any reason, then the transfer is cancelled and no action is taken. Both Second Life accounts must be in good standing for the transfer to take place.

Linden Lab can perform Resident-to-Resident transfers of Private Regions (islands), but both buyer and seller need to agree on a price. Both buyer and seller must submit support tickets, via the Support Portal, naming the region to be transferred and the transaction amount agreed upon in Linden dollars (L$). Both sides also have to confirm other details about the region being transferred. We can rename the Private Region and move it from its original location at the time of the transfer for no additional cost. Please include these requests in the buyer's transfer ticket.

Either party can cancel the transfer by closing out their ticket prior to the transfer being performed.

Here's how to submit a ticket:

1. Go to the Support Portal and log in with your Second Life account.
2. Open a new support case.
3. Under What type of problem are you having? select Land & Region.
4. Under Land & Region, choose Initiate Region Sale or Initiate Region Purchase as appropriate.
5. Complete the other required fields. The information must be consistent for both the buyer and seller tickets.
6. When all the details have been entered, scroll to the bottom and click Submit.

If both tickets match (that is, they state the same details and value), we charge the buyer's Second Life account in Linden dollars (L$). Once the charge goes through, we credit the seller the same amount minus the transfer fee.

Private Region transfers usually take 5-10 business days from the time both tickets are received.

That’s really interesting. I bought mine (about a year ago) with USD, basically they just charged my account and I paid it, no L$ involved. That article is from 2011. I hope we don’t have to use L$ for your sake... cause then you have to transfer them out/pay a fee, etc. And, to clarify more, I guess what I was really told was that you always want to go through LL, with a ticket, not just pay L$ to someone, but nonetheless I hope we don’t have to convert back and forth all the time - blech

Its true, I just did two sim transfers and both had to be in Linden not USD

Jenna - I am interested in the GF'd sim. I IM'd you in world as well. Apparently the $600 is dollars to LL for the "service" then the remaining (approx $400/L$100,000) is via lindens between members, however that works.

I just checked with LL support on this. The $600 transfer fee (to LL) of the grandfathered/buy down sim MUST be paid in USD while the actual selling price of the region is to be paid in lindens. I had bought a buy down region almost about 2 years ago and the whole transaction (transfer and selling price) was done in USD. So, L$270000 ($1046) plus $600usd seems way out of range for a grandfathered/buy down region. The transfer of Lindens is done buy LL support directly not through an in world purchase.
