lucyball88 0 Posted November 19 I have a friend who is worried that they would lose their account if they do not renew or change their premium membership to a standard account. I was told it would just go back to a standard account and you lose all your benefits. Is this true?
0 Alyona Su 8,798 Posted November 19 (edited) Yes it's true, though there are some caveats: you must manually downgrade your account if you do not wish to renew. If you do not downgrade your account then the Premium tier will be automatically renewed. If payment does not happen properly (expired credit card, not enough credit in the account, etc.) then a hold could be placed on the account (you cannot log into the grid, but you can log into the web dashboard and support) until that bill is *paid*. If you do not wish to pay for another month/year of Premium, then you must manually downgraded your account before the expiration date. In order to downgrade, you must abandon or otherwise divest of (do not own) all land or group donation of tiers. Once you do that you can downgrade. Once you downgrade all features of Premium remain in effect, other than land ownership, until the expiration date. 0 Lindal Kidd 12,343 Posted November 19 Unless your friend plans to be away from SL for a long time, she doesn't need to worry. First of all, she does not need to take any action to renew her membership. UNLESS CANCELLED, a Premium membership renews automatically. On the next renewal date, LL will simply charge her registered payment method. The "gotcha" comes in if the payment method is no good. For example, if she has canceled her credit card, or the card expires. If LL does not get paid, then her account would be placed "in arrears". If an account is in arrears long enough, then LL will, indeed, cancel the account.
