Creating Furry Texture/Skins

I'm looking into starting to make my own furry textures for furry avatars, but I can't seem to find any tutorials or examples on how to make them. I am already experienced in using Photoshop. I assume I'll need avatar templates first of all, but I have no idea where to start on actually making the skin or textures for ears, tail, ect. Can anyway either link me to some tutorials, or explain as simply as possible? Thankies :3

An important question may be whether you want the end result to look like an anthropomorphic animal, or like a human in an animal costume.

Start with Eloh Eliot's Photoshop skin files and see how skins are constructed. Learn to manage layers in a graphics progeam.

Then learn how to make realistic-looking fur textures ... various Photoshop or GIMP brushes and plugins can do it.

Then take your fur textures and apply them to the skin templates, making the fur go the way it should.

 

It's really HARD!

To make the textures? Photoshop, GIMP, PaintShopPro, and other graphics programs are stand-alone graphics programs. They have nothing to do with SL.  You need to buy a program (or simply download GIMP -- it's free) and spend a lot of time learning how to use it.
