Land Position in Search

SORRY everyone, it happened after I updated to the new Internet Explorer... I think... or whatever... but thanks for the help... hope it works now.

 

Anyway, my question was bout your positon in Secondlife Search.  Before it was Votes, then people traffic (which I think still is used) and then Picks... that upped your position in the search. 

I know PICKS is no longer used, does anyone know what is?

Your question has no text. If you are using IE9 you need to change the compatibility mode so that it works with these forums, see here for how to do that: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956197#2

You can then use Options > Edit to add text to your question.

As Peewee has pointed out you need to have compatibility mode turned on but you don't need to go through all that stuff MS says to do even they don't know their own product LOL! Simply click the broken paper icon at the right of the address bar to switch it off and on.

Well having read the KB article it was correct however at first sight is like TLDR and I would bet anyone looking for a simple answer wouldn't read the whole thing either. However it is beyond me why this site developers have not yet fixed this issue when it is so damned easy to fix.

It's a secret.  LL won't tell us what is used to calculate search position because they don't want even more people gaming the system even more than they do already.  Search is pretty useless anyway beyond anything more complicated than looking-up an avatar or group by name.

One thing that can drop you out of search altogether is the new tougher spam filter. Make sure that your description doesn`t have any repeated words, because the filter seems to be very strict on them now.
