log-in issues

I can't seem to log into SL. I type in my username and password, hit log in, and all it does is come up with a box saying "Loading terms of service". It just sits there and doesn't load. Help, please?

Hi, download Viewer 1.23 for your system and try to log in with that. The old viewers had both a first name and last name for the login screen, use "Resident" for the last name  if you have a single word username. Many people have better luck to get past the terms of service screen on that version.

Once you get past the terms of service, you can use any viewer you like.

Try downloading a TPV that is still 1.2x just so you can accept the Tos and then you can keep using V2 if you like. Some people have problems getting the accept button on the TOS with V2.

We can only assume you are using the latest Standard SL Viewer. It helps if you give us more informaton when asking for help. The ideal way is to click Help->About SL. A panel comes up that you can copy then paste into the post. You do not have to be logged in.

When you decided to use a TPV there are complications. In spite of all the problems a huge percentage of people use TPV's. It is debatable whether the SL or TPV's have more or less problems. Remember. SL Support is not going to provide much help if you use a TPV. But, the leading viewers have forums and in-world groups where you can get help. Obviously the forums are your only support if you can't login.

One has to be able to trust the maker of the TPV they choose. Remember. You are intrusting your account ID/Password the the maker of the viewer. Thre is nothing but their integrety to keep them from having a copy of the account ID and password sent to them. It has happened in past.
