is there a way to control my character in a web browser

Hello,

I have seen http options within collar menus and in the viewer interface menus. i am wondering if there is a way to leave an avatar active even though my viewer is off (or on), and controlling via a web browser from a different computer things such as movement, inventory and so on....

The short answer is no.  There is a tool you can use to download your inventory to your hard drive but you have to do it one object at a time (at least this is my understanding).  To really 'do' anything with your avatar, you must be logged into a viewer.

There is no web version of SL. There are a few lightweight viewers with no graphics, such as radegast, that allow you to everything a normal viewer does except "see" inwolrd, so they use less resources, but technically they are still viewers.
