I'm new and I tried to unpack a box on land that doesn't allow it, but now the box is gone...can anyone tell me where I can find it? Thanks!

When rezzing isn't allowed, attempts to rez objects simply don't work, you get the error message and the thing stays in inventory where it was. If it's gone, you may have rezzed in a place with a very short autoreturn time. In that case, the box will end up in your lost-and-found folder. Look there, or search for the box by name (if you know it) in the inventory window.

Just add one detail to Madelaine's answer: sometimes the item you try to rez will seem to vanish completely from your inventory. No need to worry if that happens though, all you need is a relog and it'll be back in place.
