Can we no longer play our own mp3 media /sound files from Dropbox or other service?

At one time we could put music files on Dropbox and use a scripted file playlist. I've tried recently and get a notice that the type file cannot be downloaded to secondlife.

The only way to play music in SL is to stream it like DJ's do.

it's never been possible to upload whole songs to SL

 

Sounds

Sounds must be in .WAV file in standard PCM format, 16-bit/44.1kHz/mono or stereo (converted to mono), and less than ten seconds in length.  Thus, 9.99 seconds is fine, but 10.0 will fail to upload.

Sounds cannot be saved as 8-bit, 22.05 kHz, or any other frequency. Sounds in other formats can be converted in most sound programs. An example of a free quality converter is r8brain. Compression formats  such as MP3 are not supported.

There are scripts that can put several of those small files after eachother to create a whole song

If you use those things, be ready to get banned and muted when you use those at other places than your home, personal sounds/ wearable radios are annoying and disturbing the enjoyment for others.
