It takes a day or two for a changed password to propagate to the beta grid. If something was messed up and you just changed your password today, it'll still be a day or two before things sync.

The other possibility is that a bit odd. Not all the sims in SL are active on the beta grid. If it's trying to dump you on a gaming grid, you might get errors as well. I had that happen and use the beta grid all the time. The sim I'd been on wasn't one that was active and got dumped to a gaming sim.
