Hi All,

Is there a page I can go to learn more about the development of Second Life and where they are headed with this great world. What additions will they add like VR. I am interested in knowing how they will keep this thing evolving after 10 years.

A great resource to keep up with what is new is to go to YouTube and search for 'third party developer second life'. You will find videos of all of the thrid party developer meetings. The meetings are hosted by Oz Linden who is the man in charge of the development of much of what happens in SL. At least on the viewer side of things. Great way to get insight on what is coming.

Inara Pey has a good blog on that sort of stuff: Living in The Modern World . You can also google "Second Life" and "Linden Lab", then sort for only the more recent articles & blog posts.

The general development plan seems to be to not change Second Life very much, but to try a slightly different approach on the new platform Linden Lab is developing, currently named Project Sansar.

The management at Linden Lab finally realized that charging as much as they do for virual land is contributing to the shrinking user base of SL, but they need to keep the next platform profitable, so they're planning to impliment some kind of "tax" or surcharge on linden transactions within Sansar. (Second Life currently only does this when we buy lindens or transfer them out into real world currency.) We don't know much more about plans for Sansar, except that it will work better with Oculus Rift than SL does, that region cost will be base more on resource use than size, and that region owners will have more control over who can come into their regions and how.
