Editing Mesh Items?

I've seen quite a few mesh items with (Mod/Copy) as part of their description. Does this mean I can modify them? If so, how? I've tried rezing them then editing them, then attaching them but that doesn't save the changes.

If it's rigged mesh, about the only modding you can do with them is color and texture,  Resizing or Moving them on the body doesn't work.

If the clothing is scripted or has a HUD to change the texture or color , it may be scripted to always return the item to the original texture and or color when rezzed out or worn.

Keep in mind that just about all mesh clothes require that you use a baked texture.  You generally can't just put another texture on them like you could a prim.

If it's unrigged mesh, you can usually resize it, but be sure to copy it first before you start playing with that so that you have a clean copy in case you mess up.
