downloaded singularity does not seem to accept my password for second life

What makes you think its a problem with your password?

Judeging from the singularity website, the viewer hasn't been updated since February 2015, which probably makes this viewer too outdated to acess Second Life anymore. (Potential singularity users, correct me if I'm wrong. I never used it)

Syo is right. The Singularity viewer is listed in the Third Party Viewers directory as out of date and no longer fully compatible with SL. If you can log in, you may find that it does not function as smoothly as it used to or, in fact, may not function at all. Now would be a good time to install a new viewer.
