Yes, but it is MUCH easier to just buy L$ on the Linden Exchange.  Follow instructions for buying and selling L$ >>> https://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Buying-and-selling-Linden-dollars/ta-p/700107

If you are a creator (a builder, scripter, animator, texture artist, or 3D modeller) or a performer ( a musician or DJ, for example), and if you have talents that are good enough to compete with other talented people in SL, you can make a decent income selling your creations or services.  That does take talent and experience, and some knowledge of SL.

There are not many "jobs" in SL for non-skilled residents, and the ones you can find usualy do not pay much.  Take a look here for some suggestions >>> http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Guide_to_Jobs_in_Second_Life and look in the InWorld Employment forum to see if there are interesting posts there.

In addition to those options, you can earn some L$ by playing games like PaleoQuest or Linden Realms, or entering contests in clubs or participating in Fishing Hunts.  Again, those options do not pay much, but they can be fun.
