Do gift cards (e.g. Vanilla Visa) work for buying Linden Dollars/Premium membership/Land Fees

I read some old posts regarding issues with gift cards, but those threads were quite old and I wasn't sure if anything had changed between then and now. I don't have an actual credit card, so gift cards would be my only option here. That said, if gift cards can't be used directly, what would be the best way to use a gift card, so that I could pay for Linden Dollars, Premium membership and Land Fees? Sorry, this is all new to me. I've only ever used a gift card directly, but I wasn't sure if there's another route I could possibly take. Thanks if you can answer this. (:

If you have read a mess of the old and current posts, then you have almiost certainly seen the official word from Linden Lab: "A common cause of payment method failure is the use of unsupported card types. At this time, the majority of prepaid cards are not compatible with our system, even if they bear the VISA/AMEX/Mastercard logo. This includes cards purchased at retail stores, rechargeable credit cards, and bank-issued check cards."  A majority means "almost all".  It's very hard to find a gift card or prepaid card that works in SL.  If you do, changes are excellent that it won't work next month or for the next person.  The best advice is to get a real credit card, a PayPal account, or a Skrill account.
