Transport Protocols

Greetings: Its been a long time since I have asked a question here.

       I am learning the ins and outs of the data entering the system. Atleast what I am allowed to see. My question is: does Linden only use UDP  for data given to the avi's or the sims in general or do they use a handshaking protocol such as TCP?

 

I thought maybe the Avis were fed UDP and TCP used for control channels and such.

It's my understanding that UDP is used except for handling texture data.  For textures, LL uses an HTTP fetching protocol.  You can read a bit on somewhat outdated sites in the wiki
