Question

I run SL on an Alienware lappy with Win 7.  I use the SL viewer, however, the dang thing bugs me every single time I log in to update.  When I do try to update, the viewer almost makes the entire load, then fails.  I can then retry and successfully use the viewer, although it does give me a message that I need to upgrade the viewer, with an option to do it now or later.

Here's the most annoying part:  I DID do the upgrade.....I found that by removing the current SL viewer in "remove programs", then reloading SL viewer I was able to load all the way.  Yeah!   But I'm STILL getting nagged to do an upload every time I log in and that upload still always fails.  ARggggggg.

I've tried other viewers--I just don't like the cam in Firefox (and yes I've tried to adjust it).  Singularity won't run on this machine at all.  I don't mind the SL viewer--there are some nice features I've become used to. But this failed upgrade thing is driving me nuts.   Any solutions?

Thanks for any assistance,

Rubee

Unless you have been doing a careful "clean" reinstall each time, you may be passing corrupted hidden files along each time, so the viewer is never completely new.  Linden Lab's instructions for doing a clean install are here >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-Second-Life/ta-p/1375231

Incidentally, the camera in Firestorm (not Firefox, which is a web browser) is the same as the one in the Linden Lab viewer, since LL provides the base code for both.  If you were having trouble adjusting yours, you might want to take a look at these support web sites:
