Hi Roxy,

You must abandon any land you own before downgrading. Make sure you've gather up all of your possessions before abandoning your land, so that you're in control of how they return to your inventory. If you pull the plug before taking back all your furnishings and decorations, they'll be lumped into messy coalesced objects and dumped into your Lost and Found folder.

Here's all you need to know about abandoning your land...

Good luck!

It means exactly what it says.  If you own land on the Mainland or have contributed your tier allowance to a group, you'll have to abandon the land or reclaim the tier before you can downgrade.  Open your dashboard at secondlife.com and look in the Land Manager to see what land you currently own.  There are three categories: Mainland, Estates, and Groups.  Don't worry about Estates, because a Basic member can own land in private estates.  Get rid of the other two, though.

You can either sell or abandon land.  To reclaim group tier, read http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Group-owned-land/ta-p/700079#Section_.5.1

EDIT:  BTW, don't be too surprised if your account still says that you are Premium even after you downgrade.  Your Premium account is prepaid, so you will remain a Premium member with all of the benefits (L$300 weekly stipend, Live Chat, Premium gifts and sandbox privileges, etc.) until the end of your current billing period.
