Hi Greener.

I think i had the same problem the other day, Right close the process(SL Viewer) in the Task Manager, then delete the user data and then the folder secondlife in program files. Oh, before you reinstall , reboot the system it will clear the memory. And then reinstalled the viewer, it should solve the problem then.

Regards

try going to control manager and uninstalling SL completely...make sure you have ALL versions/viewers uninstalled. This includes snowglobe, Emerald, and any others. Then reboot your computer.

Then go to https://secure-web19.secondlife.com/my/support/downloads and download/run the version you need. Make sure that you exit secondlfie correctly before trying to run it again.

Look for me inworld and send me an instant message if that works. I'll check back here to see if it didn't.   Good luck!

I tried finding anything relating to this in the Knowledge Base, no joy so far but still looking...

In the meantime you could try asking SL Support, file it as a "I cannot login"

Tickets for Basic and Guest Accounts

Some issues are best resolved by submitting a ticket to our support staff, but we don't currently offer full support ticket access to Basic account holders or Guests (visitors who don't yet have Second Life® accounts). We're sorry; there are just too many of you for us to handle in a way that would make you happy.  It's something we're working on.

Basic account holders and Guests can, however, use special options in the Submit a Ticket area to reach our support staff for certain common questions or problems.

Be sure to use the Special Questions - Basic Account or Guest Login ticket type from the dropdown list when entering the information requested.

icons_parature_caution.jpg Important: Many of the ticket choices explained below have additional fields that you need to fill in before submitting the ticket. If you supply us with as much relevant information as possible, we will be better able to help you.

Hello Greener, as suggested by other commentors, follow the instructions to completely uninstall all Second Life Viewers, saving any chat logs, if you wish. How do I fully uninstall and reinstall Second Life?

Please make sure the Second Life Cache, User Settings and content of any Temporary folders are also deleted. Use your computer's Search to find any Second Life folders and files.

Reboot your computer and your router.

Then download the latest Viewer Second Life Version Number: 1.23.5 (136262) Oct 14 2009 12:08:26 (Second Life Release) from here Second Life® Installer, save the programme to your Desktop and install.

Please note that Basic account holders and Guests can submit Tickets with Support at http://support.secondlife.com/for the following issues:

Account issue: Use these if you're having a problem creating or logging into their account.

  • I can't login inworld with my account: Please give as much specific information as you can, including the text from any error messages

Hope this helps

This is the closest I can find to Secondlife not loading; you don't have the crash logger coming up with the exact same error message (and damned if I've found that specific error message mentioned in the knowledge base yet)... but in general this references SL not loading.  All the more you should submit a ticket as you await replies.  Here's the FAQ:

If Second Life crashes during the loading process, you may be using an uncommon combination of settings that we were unable to test during our quality assurance process. This problem is more common in First Look and Release Candidate viewers.

To restore your default settings without reinstalling Second Life, move all of your existing settings files to a different, temporary directory. Next time Second Life starts, it will create a new, default set of settings files. Your settings files can be found in the following location:

  • On Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\SecondLife\user_settings
  • On Mac OSX: /Users//Library/Application Support/SecondLife/user_settings

If restoring your default settings fixes your problem, please file a bug report in the Public Issue Tracker and attach your original settings files (the ones you saved in a temporary directory) so we can analyze them and solve the problem for future Residents.

If this still doesn't solve your problem, some bad cache files might be causing the crash logger itself to crash. Try clearing out your cache files, uninstalling Second Life, and reinstalling.

you can go to exe you use to sign in right click go to properties

in target line "C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe"  --set InstallLanguage en

add -multiple at end to look like this

"C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe"  --set InstallLanguage en -multiple

that will allow multi log in so even if you have a veiwer running you can still log in

hope it helps

if your rebooting pc and still says your logged in then its in startup on pc

go taskbar select start where it says run type msconfig select startup tab and see whats starting up with widows as you log just uncheck sl viewer if its there good luck

If AppData is a system folder it might be hidden, that's a setting on your computer.  Check your folder options.  I got XP so I'm no help in telling you how to check that on Vista.

Inre being unable to submit a ticket to support cause you get error messages... are you trying to do that inworld?  What do the error messages say, I've never heard of error messages from submitting a ticket - thats a novel LL concept.
