Hi, so I just got into this and its been difficult. First I was having troubles logging in, those are resolved now, but now I can't stay logged in for more then a few minutes. My screen goes grey and then it pops up a message like this:

I've been trying to use the Firestorm Launcher, but I've also tried to use the normal client too. Both result in the same crash after a few minutes. My internet speed seems normal and fine, and I've checked on the connection from me to san francisco, even have the tracert results I can show.

And lastly, a few more things. My normal speed test: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3402757888 My speed test to SF: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3402759400 And finally.. I am on a wireless router right now. I know its recommended to be on a cable, but I won't have one for a few hours to test that.

Hi PuttyPuppy,

SL is particularly finnicky about packet errors and timeouts. I'm not sure I'm reading your log correctly, but it appears you have both happening.

Getting back to a wired connection might help, and here's a good resource for improving whatever connection you do have...

Good luck!

Three of your 16 ping requests timed out. If that's typical of your connection, SL isn't going to work. SL is very fussy about both latency and errors and less so about speed. You can have a blazingly fast connection overall, but if it stalls or sends bad packets, SL will throw a hissy fit. And this is because SL sends some (not all) information via an "unassured" but low latency method (UDP).

Ack, I didn't read your tracert carefully. The thread dead routes may be exactly that, dead routes. The remaining routes all seem pretty low latency. Try the things on Nalates' blob article I linked in my first response. I've done a few of those things over the yers, like switching to Google DNS, and got better results, not only for SL but for other internet activities. Here's the link again...

Come over to the Answers section of the forum and ask there. You'll get the attention of some different people, who may have more ideas to offer. Give not only the results of your tracert, but also what kind of PC you have, which OS, etc. The more you tell us, the more we'll be able to help.

Your tracert shows nothing of interest. Pings look good all ok.

3 Stations dont answer to your travert requests and there are 2 possible reasone for that.

1: they dont answer ping and trace requests. point. thats ok since they dont have to.

2: they are busy and drop the unimportant ping and trace packets.

All other pings looks good so I assume its all ok here. If you have a problem this list will not help you to solve it.

I'm not sure what to do. I've gotten it to the point I can stay logged in(sometimes) for a longer period of time.. but if I interact with anything I likely crash a few minutes later. I'm not sure what to do to fix it.. Since the only things left in Nalates Urriah's site is the DNS stuff.. and it's suggested not to mess with that stuff unless you have experience with it - Which I don't.
