Skinned attachment point joints, possible to modify position manually?

I have a rather interesting question.

I have created an extra joint 'Mouth' and 'Skull' and parented it directly to the default SL rig, it imports , but fails to maintain joint offset.  The verticies attached to those joints juts out, meaning that the 'attachment joint' returns to its original position.

Is there any way to 'force' re-positioning?
