A Shiny New Communications Hub for the Second Life Viewer not a good thing...

I am having a hard time with the "A Shiny New Communications Hub for the Second Life Viewer" everytime my HUD changes, it starts blinking....everytime. Is there a setting I can change? Is it possible to go back to the chat I have been using?

You could go back to the older chat temporarily by just re-installing a previous version of the V3 viewer.  That will work for maybe another couple of weeks.  At that point the next big release --- the one with Server Side Avatar Baking --- will come out.  If you don't let that upgrade install, you will see all avatars in SL as gray, featurelss people.  CHUI is a permanent feature of Linden Lab viewers from now on.  Personally, I'm not 100% happy with it either, but then I don't use V3 anyway.  If I did, I would spend time with
