Don't assume that they are making a profit.  Somepeople simply dump land on the market at a ridiculously low price to get rid of it in a hurry and recover a small portion of their original investment.  It beats holding onto the property and continuing to pay the land fees, especially if you are planning to leave SL.  Also, don't assume that all landowners are smart enough to do the math right.  :smileytongue:

There is a lot of abandoned land owned by LL on the mainland that they set for sale at $1L per prim.  Private land owners that want to sell have to price their land equal to or lower than that to sell it as there is more land available than people who want to buy mainland.  LL tends to reserve the choicest parcels for auction where they can get more than $1L per prim.   Private landowners that own land that is in high demand, such as lots on the Blake Sea can also get substantially more as there is demand for it.
