When another avatar is close enough to you.. can he cause you to crash, if he knows what he is doing

I Have a brand new high powered computer.. rarely have any trouble. I was at help island and  got in a disagreement with another person. He then came over very close to where i was standing and a few moments later i froze and started to crash. it was not happening to the others there. When i tried to get abck on ..it took me quite awhile to get back, .

      I am not being silly but I am worried about this.. as I ahve heard it from people who are supposed to know computers.

Sure he can. He doesn't even need to be that close. There are objects that will crash the viewer indirectly by crashing the graphics card driver due to sucking up the fillrate of the graphics card.

Thank you for your help , now that I know it is possible is there anything I can either buy or do in sl..to catch this person.. I am not the only one who has this problem. I would like to catch this griefer if at all possible.. It's just my nature..

If it's actually a graphics crasher via fillrate, you should disable rendering of volumes (CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-9) as it prevents the viewer from crashing and then you could try to find out who's actually griefing.

The solution to this is:

1. Don't get into disagreements with argumentative people.
2. If you do, teleport away.  There are plenty of other places for you to be...and most of them are more interesting than Help Island Public.
3. If someone persists in harrassing you, Block them.  Right click their avatar and select Block, or choose Block from their profile.
