Before you invest too much time and energy in making sculpties, you should be aware that sculpties are now old technology.  They were at best an awkward workaround in the days before SL residents could make and import true mesh objects.  It is much easier to make mesh than to make sculpties, and there are fewer limitations on what you can do.  Since you are just beginning in 3D modelling, I suggest that you begin with mesh.
