Harper Beresford
I am a total amateur at this but I would love to make a little playlist for my land where I can stream my iTunes in. However, I am finding it incredibly difficult to find any information about streaming iTunes into SL in a way in which I could do this.I am running Windows, so not the MacOS. Anyone..? Monti Messmer
Hello, the word streaming says it. Listen to multiple songs (playlist) in SL needs a streaming software like SAM, winamp with a streaming plugin. Winamp and the shoutcast plugin are downloadable for free. If you only have a few (...5...) listeners and a broadband connection you could do this from "home". If you have limited bandwith or more listeners you would need an internet server to buffer this. Why ? Every listener "downloads" the song from the source, e.g. your PC over your internet connection. I had this working for 3 listeners before SL and the sound of the stream began to suffer badly. So you would need winamp, the shoutcast plugin and maybe a rented shoutcast server. They are available ingame or via google search. Be aware if you play music on an open sim where everyone can listen you need to own the songs and you need a internet radio license Monti
Harper Beresford
Ah yes but how do I get the iTunes INTO the winamp or SAM?
Monti Messmer
Don´t have iTunes ready because i don´t use it anymore ... Guessing you have the songs as MP3 or OGG or .... on your harddrive you can create playlists there, or, maybe iTunes can create compatible playlist files to open in SAM or Winamp. Lee Ponzu
All the songs that iTunes palys for you are stored in files in the file system. Go browse around in the iTunes library. Then you can either make a copy of the files you want to some other location on your computer, or you can point your streaming software at those files, or yo can upload those files to some server. Note that some or all of the iTunes files might have one or another form of copy protection on them. in short, there is no short answer.
