So, I just now made an SL after all of these years. I am brand new, so I may not look too appealing with a noobish avatar. I am hoping to change that with getting an SL job!

About me? I am 21 year old gal who loves interacting with people online. I am currently unemployed and have a bunch of free time throughout the day. (I'm looking for a job, though.) I am a good people person, polite to strangers, and always stay professional even if it is just an online job.

I'd LOVE to be a dancer for a gothic / emo / vampire club. I can do escorting too. I currently have not yet downloaded, or installed SL and cannot do so until tomorrow morning. (tired at the moment!)

Welcome to SL. I hope you find something, however, be aware that most employers won't hire you until you are 30 - 90 days old and have a good looking quality avatar, especially for a job in a club as a dancer or escort.  What you can do when you first arrive is scout out the many good freebies people offer and put together you avatar and gain some operating experience.  There is a lot to see and explore and you'll need to be familiar with the various cultures in  SL to be able to do an effective job. There are plenty of ways to pick up a few lindens  here and there along the way while you do this by participating in contests, games, filling out surveys etc,  Hunts given by groups of merchants, where you can find even higher quality avatar components and clothing which you can then use along with the lindens to upgrade your avatar even further.

Oh, I'm not looking for it like right away.  I still have real world money to buy fancy things from the market place, so I'm good with like more popular and higher quality things I guess.

I wasn't aware you had to be a month or two old to be able to get a job in SL. It did not state that in the Wiki, sadly though. I'm unable to even start today, so I may just wait overtime then and get to play the game for that time period. It's kind of funny, because other people who are also new began posting things like this too... Hmm..

Its not a LL rule, its the club owners rule. Most club owners want good looking knowledgeable avatars to work for them. I would definitely suggest that you spend your free time in SL exploring. Learn how things work and hang out at a few clubs. IM me if you want some place ideas or if you want to hang at the Club i DJ at.

ETA: we are also looking for Hosts and dancers, but we do want at least 30 days old.

Alright, thanks for the tips. I didn't even know any of this, but it does make sense. I can tell by looking at those lovely items in the shopping marketplace. xD I am glad to hear that you do not have to actually pay real world money for some linden dollars. *sigh of relief*

I've bought a few items via real world money already to spice up the avatar a bit as I stated in my last post. At least people here are helpful and nice about it unlike some other online avatar  games I know.

While it's true that there are ways to make $L (linden dollars) in SL, they're going to be at an extremely slow rate if you're trying to gain them the "free way".  Like anything else in this world, you tend to get more out of something you put more into. I would recommend buying some L$ to make your avatar look nice to start with, then worry about earning more once you become familiar with SL.

The "you need to be 30 days old or more to get a job", like someone else mentioned, is not a Second Life rule, but it's a very common one that most club owners employ, and it's been that way for a very long time. (My original avatar is 6+ years old.)  Sometimes you can find places that are okay with newbies and helping them get started though, so don't get discouraged and think that's every club. Some stores also employ models to stand on a platform all day in their products and get paid for it, so that's something you could look for as well.

I highly recommend you spend a lot of time exploring and visiting clubs, since you want to work in one, so that you can get a good idea of what their staff does. Some have their job applications available in the club where you can click on a button to receive it. Gathering some of those and reading them might also give you a better idea of what they're looking for.

Good luck!

Thanks for the extra tips  I've found one club I wanna join and it's been listed as a popular place. I dunno when, or even if they are hiring people. I may just ask the club owner whenever I see them. Since it is an already well established place I can only picture that it may just be one that hires people almost whenever they need them.

For now I'm gonna just enjoy SL and getting to know people. ;3
