No.  The number of groups was expanded from 10 to 25 sometime around 2006 and then to 42 in about 2011.  One unintended side effect of having so many groups has been an overload on servers handling group messages, so group chat has become very laggy.  Increasing groups even farther would just make the problem worse.  If you need an extra group, you'll have to go back and remove some older, useless groups.

ETA:  In case you are asking because you are a merchant and would like to add a group for your customers, I should probably also remind you that you can use the Subscrib-o-Matic system.  That is a private messaging system that lets you set up groups outside of the 42 allowed by Linden Lab.  If you are a large-scale merchant with thousands of customers, you pay a monthly fee for the service, but a small merchant can manage a group of a few hundred for free.  As far as I know, it doesn't support a group chat feature but it does give you a way to push advertising messages to a zillion people at once.

Get an alt account and feet it with other groups.... then you have 84. Some people did this and just used some text client to check groups for new messages.
