  1. wish it was only a few hundred. The dancer, it was pretty obvious, was part as was couple 2, prob all alts of the same person. Am sure as LL connects the dots, all 4 traded money among each account and my 90% and prob a bunch more is floating around since it takes a bit to cash out. All the accounts were 0 days so its pretty obvious all were involved. But in a purely selfish mode, not sure why I should take the 90% hit and the hacked account get 100% back. Probably clicked on one of those links in a group chat and logged in, giving away his/her log in info to our tipping boy. SMH
  2. Today I got an email from LL advising me they removed $XXXX lindens from my account saying it was obtained from a "unauthorized source". A bad actor came into the club along with another bad actor, who logged into my tip jar as a dancer. Both were 0 days, actor 1 tips actor 2(dancer) and the tip jar (per script), splits 90% to the dancer and 10% to the venue. This is a very common script used in SL for years. Bad actor 1 complains and they remove 100% of the tip from my account (and I assume returns it to bad actor 1). Bad actor 2 hops off the stage. I opened an ticket, then when I noticed it had been done a few hours before by another couple I called by phone. The nice linden lady said once they remove money, they don't give it back (I suspect just her opinion as I have usually found LL to be fair). I also filed an abuse report inworld on the 4. I now see she opened a 2nd ticket escalating it since I got a bit irate. As a precaution I removed all the tip jars and took credit cards from my account. If you run a venue where tip jars split the percentage, please look for 4 figure (out of the norm) tips and do your research. Navy1 Coba
  3. Got an interesting question that I cant answer. Seems someone broadcast their voice remotely to a prim(etc) worn by another avatar located on another sim from the speaking avatar. Blocking the SPEAKING AVATAR (not on the sim) shut off the voice but blocking every avatar ON the sim did not. Obvioulsy a new griefing technique. any ideas how this was done?
  4. Seems the latest trend in spam is "conference chat". The usual loan me $xxxL for my mothers life saving surgery or whatever. Those of you using Firestorm can now block "conference chat" in your preferences by 1) loading preferences 2) chat tab, 3) chat windows 4) near the bottom check "automatically and ignore and leave all conference chats". I would suggest you also check the NEXT one "report ignored conference chats in nearby chat" so if your FRIENDS try, you know. This will eliminate the new trend of "conference chat spam". I am sure the SL viewer has a similar option. BEWARE, this will block ALL CONFERENCE CHAT. This is why I suggest you use the 2nd box to let you know if someone tries that is a friend of yours.

    Zindra expansion?

Has anyone heard any rumors or facts about LL building the rest of Zindra on the bottom right corner?
  6. Lately I have been getting a rolling spam message in chat from my shoutcast system "Now playing: Jingle Pub 03". Runs about 8-10 times in local like the "now playing" message that usually appears 1 time with the song title. Did a Google search and can't seem to find anything. It looks like spam but can't seem to find anything changed in the radio itself and scripts are no mod. Any ideas?
  7. Have tried and tried and I KNOW this can be done, cause I have seen it done. Have a lot of no mod/no copy transferable items that I need to set into a built prim box (so that it only uses 1 prim on my land). I want to add x number of these items and let others pluck various ones from the box and transfer to themselves. It is on my private land so only those allowed could get them, but we are all in the same group, so no bother there. I have racked my brain setting access and different ways to do this with no luck. Im sure its as simple as checking the correct box on the prim box or something (the internal items placed in there are not mine). Reason behind is I am not always online to give these things to other people, so its kind of a store room system. heeeeeeeelpppppp :matte-motes-agape:
  8. Rolig Loon wrote: It would be very easy to write a script that calls llMapDestination when you trigger it in a touch* event. The script wouldn't teleport you immediately, of course, but would open your Map view, set to a pre-determined destination. You'd TP to that spot if you clicked the Teleport button. Unless you are wearing the scripted object, llMapDestination doesn't work if it's called from other events, though. You couldn't trigger it with a sensor or a collision* event, for example. And there's no way to open a Map window on someone else's viewer screen. The only other option I can think of would be to write a script that sends a SLURL in chat or IM when you trigger it -- and you could trigger it with almost anything, including a collision. Even then, you'd have to click the SLURL to actually go somewhere. Naturally, to make any scripted device work you'd have to have rights to rez the scripted object where you want people to bump into it. ETA: Unless you created a bot to detect people and send them the SLURL....... :smileywink: This shows to me, as the person getting it, to be just like a normal TP request with a blue dropdown and the SLURL in chat. I am leaning toward #2 that some gaming business gives money in exchange for a visit TO your locaion and more for requesting TP's sent to avatars within radar range. Am hoping to find out who and report it to LL. Thanks for your input.
  9. Last few weeks I have been getting random TP requests to transport to the same area with the same sim. I have asked several regular visitors and they too have been getting them. All seem to be coming from various newer avatars. I have been unsuccessful in getting a response from the location owner. My question is: 1. Is there such a script that can be placed so as you walk across it, it sends random TP requests to other avatars on the same sim. 2. If not, has anyone heard of one of these business gaming programs that reward people for visiting and sending such requests out as they visit. (I could care less if they pay someone to visit their location, but the sending of requests to my customers is not acceptable)
  10. Oh yea great gods of scripting...I have a club that dancers sign into a tip jar, customer tips, 80% goes to the dancer, 20% to me. Standard stuff. The issue is when someone tips the jar it says " You have paid Navy1 Coba $x", then I get a drop down saying customer paid me X dollars and I paid Dancer x dollars. It causes confusion because the customer thinks he/she has tipped me (unless they read the hover text on the jar) and the dancer gets a message that I TIPPED her (unless she reads the hover text). What I want to try and create is a tip jar that pays the logged in dancer direct and me direct and lets all parties know where their x dollars went. Any way to do this?
  11. ok, in the last 4 days I have gotten this message 6 times, I contact LL in chat or make a ticket. A few times they restart, sometimes they just say "try now" and its magic, it works. Anyone know whats going on and if others are having this issue?

And lightning striking twice in the same place and soon after the first strike makes me wonder if there's someone "out" for the OP. A particularly nasty competitor, someone who came to the club and asked someone to dance and got brushed off...who knows...but a loony just the same. I'm pretty easy going, and its a freelance roleplay type club. We have no employees and have never banned anyone or had any trouble in almost 3 yrs here. Can't remember de-friending anyone in recent years for that matter. I'm guessing this is a griefer out for cash, and was probably a little miffed that his scam got caught so quickly by LL. If they returned the money he took or just reimbursed my loss, either way, he may have felt I would have loaded more money into my account by the next day and came back for a second helping.
  13. Update #2 Somewhere I said another day, another face, another avatar, well they dont wait long. In pops mr cool (251 days) (not the name, TOS, remember) and wants to donate 100L to my donation box [2012/08/23 06:35] Mr Cool: to donate your box does not work ok [2012/08/23 06:36] Navy1 Coba: you can donate to one of the glasses on the stage also, I will check that, thanks [2012/08/23 06:36] Mr Really Cool: I will donate your club 100l$ [2012/08/23 06:36] Navy1 Coba: ok, thanks [2012/08/23 06:37] Navy1 Coba: I will have to work on it later [06:39] 'Donation Cash Box UPDATE', an object owned by 'Navy1 Coba', located in (insert sim) has been denied permission to: Take Linden dollars (L$) from you. even tried a new one: [07:22] 'ajuste system linden', an object owned by 'Navy1 Coba', located in (insert sim), has been denied permission to: Take Linden dollars (L$) from you. First off, the Donation Cash Box doesn't have a request system in it, so that was clue #1 As before, filed an abuse report and a ticket. Not sure he will make 252 days. I looked for an invisible prim and none there. Even when I banned him from the land, the yellow drop downs kept comming, about 40 in total. I was stalling hoping to get more info. Just beware.

They were very quick to close the offenders account and then actually delete it. Granted I did provide them with transaction entries in my account and chat log. Since I have several affiliate vendors in my mall, I contacted them as well. Once of the larger producers was aware of this scam and gave me several tips on how to prevent it in the future. Please, teach us. What are those tips to prevent? They said NEVER rez or reset anything that needs a money split permission in the presence of someone complaining they cant make it work, such as a tip jar, affiliate vendor, game machine, etc. If in doubt, try to rez a NEW copy from your inventory instead of taking and re-rezing the old one Don't leave your groups open enrollment (cant do that since my land needs it) Make your land group ownership different from your vendors, etc on the site Don't allow scripts (can't do that since my club needs it) Some of their tips I can't use cause of my club, but I learned to be more cautious. In the end, I guess you just have to be careful and if scammed, RIGHT THEN file an land abuse report "fraud $" and open an account comprimised support ticket with as much or more information than you think they need. I was lucky this time.
  15. Innula Zenovka wrote: No, I remember the old SLX terminal scam, and that's different. That was people paying money to what they thought was the SLX terminal, when, in fact, they were paying money to an invisible prim, belonging to a scammer, and thus to the scammer. In this case, a script is removing funds from someone's account and transferring them to the scammer. The script can only do this if it's in an object belonging to the victim of the fraud. That's the way PERMISSION_DEBIT works. The only person who can get the orange request dialogue box is the owner. ETA .. @Navy1 I don't understand how you can "clone" the debit permissions dialog box. I can change the way llDialog menus appear in my viewer, but not in anyone elses. And even if you could, it would be pointless because you cannot grant debit permissions using llDialog. Thanks for the information. Wish I could tell you more of the "how" it was done. Am sure LL is working on it since they seemed to solve and deal with the issue VERY quickly. Like I said, one of the larger vendors was aware of the scam but did not go into the "how" and since I am not a expert in scripting, I probably wouldn't understand anyway. I can tell you this, that once the dust cleared a second "permissions dialog box" appeared which I am guessing was the correct one. I posed all this not in hopes of finding out the how, more to advise others not to reset or re-rez an affiliate vendor board in front of a complaining customer (which was also the advice of the larger vendor that knew of the scam)
  16. Nicolette Lefevre wrote: Ok, a script can only send money from the owner of the script to someone. So whatever script did this it must have been owned by the original poster. This does NOT look like there was an invisible prim put over the vendor. To me this looks much more like someone found a way to add a malicious script to the vendor. To the original poster: You may want to check your vendor. Actually all of them. That script may still be in there. But if the author of the script was even halfway intelligent, then the script will have deleted itself after it was done sending the money. I can think of only two ways this could be done. If the vendor has an update-function then that may have been used to inject a malicious script. Not by the creator of the vendor but by someone who managed to somehow get the PIN needed to allow this. The other way would be to "give" the script to the vendor. In theory simply resetting scripts should not set the new script running. According to the documentation you will need to recompile the script or take the object into inventory and re-rez it. Thanks for the info. I took the affiliate vendor and deleted it, then went to their original package and rezzed a new one for the wall. I also contacted that vendor to inform them. LL's fraud division seemed aware of the scam since it has been used before. The entire event wasn't pretty watching my current balance shrink in a few seconds with about 15 blue popups saying I had paid the scammer and intertwined with insufficient fund warnings as he attempted (or his script did) various amounts. The entire event caught me offguard (hence the post) since I was simply trying to reset (re-rez) the affiliate vendor so he would be able to buy the product. For those that are unaware of what an affiliate vendor is: a company (owner) makes a product and offers to place a sales board (affiliate vendor) in your shop/store to sell his products. In exchange for placing it there, the owner splits the profits from sales with the land/mall/shop owner.
  17. Darren Scorpio wrote: If the invisible prim is owned by the scammer (logically if he/her has rezed it), then I don't see why the "victim" would be able to A) reset the scripts on the object, or B) The permissions dialog would be received by the object's owner (the scammer) not the the victim. Am I missing something here? Not sure how it worked, this is what I was told. All I know is when I reloaded my vendor board (normally a yellow drop down permission request appears) the yellow drop down "grant permissions" request was a clone of the "real" request which is usually delayed a few seconds. The "real" request appeared about 20 seconds later but by then the scammer had begun taking money from my balance.
  18. Czari Zenovka wrote: I've heard of this invisible prim in front of vendors before - some years back. Seems old things cycle around periodically. This one is easy to miss as the OP states. I've even heard of invisible prims place in front of a merchant's vendors so the sales money goes to the scammer. What I'm wondering is how these people manage to put an invisible prim on someone else's land, unless of course create objects. I would think run script for others would need to be on as well, but having very little scripting info, would like to hear from someone more experienced how this could be done. Also, would turning on see transparancey (CTRL+ALT+T) show the invisprim? The land was set to run scripts and build objects for members of the group. Joining the group was free. This was necessary to use some of the assets of the club. I have since taken the build rights away from group members.
  19. Deja Letov wrote: Was it not a vendor you set out and knew who the vendor was? Or are you saying that it changed over night? I kinda feel like we're missing something in the way this vendor was obtained. they explained what was done, they create an invisible prim and copy the name of the vendor, so when the Yellow "grant permission" appears, it clones the one you own except the script inside pays them instead.
  20. an update: Linden Labs fraud division has stopped or caught the person, his account has been canceled and my 12k returned. GREAT work and quick to respond on their part. I spoke with them on the phone and my account is now secure and fixed. His account is canceled, but alas he/she will return another time, another place, another name. Seems they rez and invisible prim then copy the name of the item they want to clone such as a clothing vendor, game or tip jar. Then they ask you to reset or reload it so they can buy something " I want that outfit more can not buy what makes you talked removed from the wall and back" . When you reload or reset, they activate their invisible prim which causes the yellow drop down "grant permission" showing the same name, etc, and thinking its your item, you click yes. Then their script starts asking your account for money 100k, 10k, 1k, 100L and 10L asking for less as it gets insufficient funds notice until they clean out your balance. Just beware if anyone wants you to reset or reload anything that has your permission to take money such as a affiliate vendor, game or tip jar, etc. The small sale is not worth losing your balance. And if you do have a problem, file an abuse report and a support ticket. Linden Labs has my vote on prompt service.
  21. here stolls in a noobie, just 0 days, looking for help. I have a small mall attached to my club with affiliate vendors. He says he cannot buy an item and asks me to reset the board. I reset it and naturally, the yellow drop down "grant permission" comes up and I have done hundreds of times when resetting or rezzing vendors, I click yes, and wow, here comes the "you have paid" notices, along with "insuffient funds" notice as he cleans my account of 12k in lindens. I opened an abuse ticket with LL and filed a support ticket and am calling them when they open. Removed credit cards until they give the all clear. Just beware, its the latest scam going around, so dont reset or reload any vendor because someone is having trouble buying an item. Its not worth the small sale to get cleaned out.
  22. I noticed this for the first time today and did see my traffic so far today reduced since I no longer move higher in the SEARCH results. It is an endless spiral since lower position means less traffic which means lower traffic scores and so on. While granted, when I do a search, I tend to select the places higher up the list but not necessarily the top each time, I seldom scroll thru several pages to located the place with the least traffic levels. My club maintains a certain level of traffic which are regulars, but also benefits from new customers gained from SEARCH clicks, aside from the fact I pay $30L each week to BE in the search results.
  23. Keeping your files and folders organized is one of the big things to do. As your inventory creeps up to the 25k total, you will wish you had made new folders and put each thing in its place. Good luck, building is fun. :smileyvery-happy:
  24. My suggestion is visit places that interest you, or activities that you are interested in, such as music venues, shops with things you like, etc. Then as you visit, make friends that have similar interests. There are also several "hunts" usually for clothing where you meet and make friends as you search for clues. Short of that, give it time. The best friends are made over time and with similar interests. Welcome to SL.
  25. In a word, NO :smileyhappy: There is "camping" devices that pay the "camper" (person who stands there) $L for time spent, usually paid BY the owner of the store/land/etc in order to increase "traffic" which is a whole other issue. The best way if you are a store owner is place a classified ad in SEARCH then have good products that are fairly priced, and try and be there as much as possible to greet and meet your potential customers.
