Wow. My friend brushed shoulders with a real Linden who came to tweak the lil bit of mainland for them via a support ticket. Moles are interesting too. So ...
1 - How many Lindens visit inworld ?
2 - How many Moles are there ?
3 - Got any interesting anecdotes about them ?

if the First Name + Last Name was Philip Rosedale then yes it was him. When he left Linden his SL account name was changed from Philip Linden to Philip Rosedale
On 11/21/2019 at 10:19 PM, Mollymews said:I checked his inworld profile. 6 years and 7 months is about right. Is about when he stepped away from Linden completely. He first stepped down as CEO and remained as chairman and still kept his Linden named account
when M Linden resigned as CEO then Philip Rosedale stepped back in as CEO temporarily. When Rodvik Linden came as CEO then Philip Rosedale did continue as chairman. At some time later (about 6-7 years ago) he stepped down from the Linden board. At which time he gave up his Linden Last Name
i thought they just changed his last name. Seems not. Looks like they had to create a whole new non-Linden account and probably moved his inventory and stuff over to the new account
I agree completely. I went to a talk given in-world (on another account) by the new Philip-account some years ago. Here's the video. There is about 5 minutes of dead air at the beginning, and then an avatar begins introducing Philip at about 05:30 by showing the (then-blank) profile of the new Philip-account, shortly after which Philip begins speaking at about 07:30. He's a very interesting speaker, and several of his talks are on YouTube as real-life recordings. Compare the voices if you wish. Its definitely him, imho.

Even Zindra isn't that sex-oriented. There are sex-related businesses, but they're a minor part of the landscape. Actually, most of Zindra is for sale or rent. The big activity in Zindra is not sex. It's land-flipping. Prices are high and much land is vacant, with filler buildings. Most of the real sex sims are private sims off mainland.
Total General Moderate Adult Total 100% 12% 63% 25% As one can see, only 12% of the land mass is General, and so only 12% has Adult Activity forbidden on per http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Adult_Content_FAQ
QuoteWhat does "advertises or publicly promotes" mean?
The maturity ratings distinguish between publicly-promoted adult content, required to be on Adult regions, and non-public adult content, such as private homes with a sex bed, that can be located on Moderate land.
Adult activities cannot be advertised or publicly promoted on Moderate land. Such activity must occur privately, behind closed doors on Moderate land (see below), and is forbidden on General land. These restrictions apply regardless of whether the parcel has hidden avatars.
Advertising for SL search using adult words clearly requires being on Adult land. Other examples of advertising or publicly-promoting include renting signs inworld, listing on events, buying ads in newspapers, or distributing flyers or notecards to passersby.
Private invitations to friends are not considered advertising or promoting. Inviting everyone in a small private group that you control is not considered advertising. However, inviting everyone in a public group can be considered a promotional effort.
What does "behind closed doors" mean?
Adult activity on Moderate land must be conducted "behind closed doors," meaning that you must make every reasonable effort to ensure that the parcel is private. This means:
- Allow only a group or specific individuals access to the parcel. If it is group-access only, the group must not be freely open to join.
- Hide avatars (turn off avatar visibility) for the parcel.
- Enclose the area behind walls or other visual barriers.

Those titles are part of an old system that was abandoned long ago and they have no meaning or signifcance whatsoever today. Even in the old pre 2017 forum they didn't really mean much.
Thank you for the information. In most of life it would be odd to have something so prevalent be meaningless, but prevalent and meaningless are just two sides of the same coin in the general discussion forum 😊

" who cares about the forums? it's just full of crybabies and trolls, I stopped using those years ago." I use the forums for problem solving and entertainment I go years without posting only reading.
But back to my opinion of ranks, ranks represent nothing more then board people who post alot on a set of forums. I have been helped more by low ranked forums users then hight and have been abused by people with high ranks and people who care about that stuff just seem to be more of a forum nazi then a help user.
Indeed. I am in the process of developing the same opinion independently.

I'm straight and extremely devoted to my guy in both worlds. Yet I answer any and each IM warmly and respectfully and end it kindly too, even the dumb ones. We need to feel for one another if we are to survive with dignity. Audrey said that, not me 😛
Aye. Thank you for making SL more welcoming to men. My experience is that there are many such as you in SL. To find happiness in SL, one need only get out and explore a little bit.

So while I'm in SL primarily for the adult side, if it's called RP I don't want any part of it. When I'm doing the, er... thing in SL, I'm also doing it in RL, whether it's on voice or through the mastery of typing while, er... thinging. And when I'm thinging in RL, I expect my partner to be doing the same, otherwise I don't see the point in doing it. I don't want someone faking it with me since I'm not faking it, if that makes sense. And when I see someone who calls sex RPing, I assume they're just writing a story and faking it and I immediately write them off as a potential sexual partner.
While I'm in SL primarily for the creative side, and while creating usually means mesh, textures, or scripts, sometimes creating means forming stories with words. In roleplay, the stories and actions are complex enough that one needs one's hands for the keyboard. What one does with the fantasy later is one's own business. Some females report back the next day that they "saved it up for later." I have no idea what that means 😎.

how do you report someone for sharing chatlogs
See http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Residents'_privacy_rights
QuoteDisclosing private Second Life conversations
Sharing or posting a conversation inworld or in the Second Life forums without consent of all involved Residents is a violation of the Terms of Service.
NOTE: This does not include posting of chat to social media sites or other websites. Posting such logs on web pages, emailing them, or printing them out and posting them on utility poles in the "real world" -- are all actions beyond the scope of the Second Life Terms of Service. ; while that might be illegal, but those laws must be enforced by the proper law enforcement agencies.
"Conversation" means text that originally came from Second Life chat or Second Life instant messages. If it's totally unattributed, then it isn't considered disclosure. Additionally, Residents are not punished for sharing or posting a comment such as "Bob Resident said, 'You're the greatest!'"
Emphasis added.
So, you see it depends on where they are sharing the chat logs. If they are sharing inworld, file an Abuse Report (AR).
If they are pasting it outside SL, read carefully the green text above and at the first-link provided.

For a long time now I have used Space Navigator SN) for camera and flying. However now I want to learn to use it move objects. I have studied the Torley videos. However when Torley edits an object he seems to be able to MOVE objects. All I can do is control the camera with SN or move myself (choosing between the two by clicking the side button on the SN). What do I have to change so that SN is in build mode and will move the object?
Yeah, hard to get by without a Space Navigator for large projects. I've used one for years also.

There are TWO Galaxies now? What are they called, the Greater and Lesser MagellanLindenic Clouds?
I'm told the old 5-sim version is now a 3-sim museum version on Linden Land at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Galaxy FORWARD/108/175/26 , but no rentals because the Lindens run their museums that way.
Zhoa Boa 's estate has a one-sim version as a club. One SIM is plenty for a dance-hall version. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Desolate/188/171/30.

US$600 minimum before an entity is required to give you a 1099 in most cases. See;
https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-1099-misc
TurboTax gives the filer an opportunity to declare small bits of miscellaneous income. I don't know what is the cutoff for applicability; I let TurboTax decide what to do.

An advantage of using a single texture with offsets for displays (numerical in this case) is that the entire texture is loaded in the viewer of nearby avatars, and thus a change (numerical in this case) is fast even for bandwidth constrained clients or on heavily loaded servers.

Well, 2016. But like they write on the cover-page, the counter has a limit of 100k residents of a single last name, and they saw no reason to redesign it to continue counting after the "Resident" transition.
slnamewatch doesn't have the old Linden names; those are here
