  1. Query sent inworld regarding future rental payments on Tether's End, prior to purchase.
  2. Looking for a full sim to rent for less than 80.00USD/week if possible. Please only reply inworld to Subversive Vavoom.
  3. Randall, the reason that I haven't started one is pretty simple... First of all, I'm hoping someone is out there who's doing one that gets mentioned here and no one has to reinvent the wheel. If it's out there, and I can support it, why not? If it's not out there.... I would certainly like to be a guest blogger on something like this, and cover a couple of truly interesting events per week. Is that enough for me to start my own blog? Maybe, maybe not. As I mentioned to Syo, I don't think that creating something like this has to be the end all be all coverage of all events, but rather those that are unique and creative and probably only a small percentage of the total events going on. Ideally, such a blog would have multiple reviewers, because that's what works for a good fashion blog too. Also the case with fashion blogs, event planners could be contacted and asked for information on upcoming events, the same way designers are asked for prereleases or demo copies to ascertain what is actually worth blogging about. I realize that this would be a huge undertaking, and yet I also realize that with four or five people who are already avidly attending interesting events, each one could shoulder a small percentage of the workload. Lastly, I think that the blog could function a couple of different ways. Bloggers could tell you about interesting events that they attended, past tense, if it provided the basis for future installments of the same type of event at the same location, with data on the when's and what's. I don't see the point in telling the world about the most amazing SL ballet that you've ever seen if it's the last performance that troupe is ever doing. I do however see the point if this is something they do every third Sunday or what have you (which I hope is the case for many SL based performances). The alternative is to review venues in general and discuss the upcoming events without any sort of knowledge on the quality of the future events. While I think this could work in cases of announcing a special upcoming show, it might not work as well for something like a hosted dj dance. At some point I think that the blogger's instinct has to kick in and pick events based on their experiences at that venue to 'cover' based on their interests. Another reason to have a team of bloggers instead of just one
  4. Syo, I don't think that a blogger has to blog about every single event on the grid any more than they have to blog about every single new skin, blouse or shoe. Finding out about the events could be done a number of ways. One could start researching the events that are in the calendar to find out which would strike them as interesting perhaps, and if they are regular occurrences. I don't have all the answers, however, I think that through some investigative processes (like asking club owners for a schedule of events) that they could start the ball rolling. For the little guys, who aren't advertising in the calendar, a blogger would need to start networking and really do some digging to find them. Wouldn't it be great though, to help provide some extra coverage and support? Who's to say that they wouldn't find you (the blogger) through this process! Perhaps a team of bloggers could combine their skills and networks to help cover as many quality events as possible. I don't think of it as replacing the events calendar, let me be clear. There's no way that one could provide instant posting of all events on the grid without it potentially turning into another disaster such as our current method. Why? Because it's automated. There's no one to actually filter out all the non-events that are being posted there. A blogger would discuss events that are going to happen again in the future at a venue they've visited, and that have given them personal reason to attend. Just like they can't know that a new outfit is coming out unless they get in the loop and start blogging existing articles of clothing, right?
  5. After 10 years of a dysfunctional events calendar, would someone please direct me to a more useful source of information pertaining to events in SL? I see hundreds, no, thousands of blogs about fashion and photography. I sometimes see blogs discussing travels in SL to empty sims that make for nice pictures with no events. I rarely see blogs about roleplay adventures in SL, but I never, ever see blogs about recurring events that are designed for multiple locations or more than just one person (ie, not just your sim or your bf the dj) that provide diversity and promote creativity. I gave up yeaaars ago on the calendar of events, and I understand that probably a huge portion of events never get posted there in the first place (because, if you are a long term resident who's jaded, perhaps you feel it's pointless to post there). I don't mean this as a rant on the calendar, as that would be beating a dead (and broken) horse that I feel the labs have never really cared about. What I would like to find, or potentially help someone develop, is a platform where absolutely no commercial sale events would be posted. Some of my suggestions would be: 1. Blog about events that are a live happening. Not an ongoing contest, not something two weeks ago, not an all day fake event to boost someone's store traffic. (yes 5th Ave. I'm looking at you right now) 2. Blog about events that really have something unique to offer. Events that take effort organizing and executing! The last thing we need is the same info we could get from the calendar, about every Best in Red for 1k. I wouldn't mind a break down by musical genre of where to find alt indie or some such, but would suggest avoiding the typical bland dance events where there is absolutely nothing but a DJ who plays "it all". Shows, real games (not casino games) or discussions would be ideal. 3. Blog some of the little guys. Clubs like Franks, Sweethearts, GOL, and Big Daddy's really don't need this kind of promotion. Lesser known clubs are the ones who could benefit, and who are frequently more creative too. 4. Lastly, blog more than the when/where/what :) What are some *real* reasons to go to this event? ++++++++++++++ I hope that perhaps I'll spark some discussion in this line or perhaps someone will post a blog link that fulfills my every dream of a great event blog. Either way, just because a blog may be posted in reply doesn't mean you shouldn't reply as well, if you have something supportive or suggestive, or if anyone would like to kick around the idea of doing a completely non-profit events blog, please feel free to contact me. I do not have a personal agenda or club :) ++++++++++++++
  6. Is it possible for creators of mesh to easily go from a normal size/scale av down to a very small (some say micro size) av in their rigging? I ask this because while I know that some fashions can't possibly be made to fit my already-mesh-body (i'm a petite avatar by Yabu) there are some "loose" garments, and accessories like hair that could definitely fit if they were just smaller and rigged for the smaller 'skeleton' that goes with it. So, to be clear, I'm not asking this question in relation to body hugging garments made of mesh, but rather, less body-contoured items like mesh hair. Secondly, when you purchase a full perm mesh that presumably you can't reupload, are you stuck with the rigging for it permanently? I wish there was a way to work with creators to offer riggings for the new mini/micro/little/small avs on accessories! :)
  7. Here's what I'm looking to have made... 1. Target rezzer that emits a target of my design on temp that will fall slower than what 'normal' gravity would pull it down from a sky location. Targets need to be spawned as high as 3000 meters, spawn in a random pattern, and be able to be copied (the emitters/spawners) over a large distance for aerial combat. 2. Targets register hits from SpellFire weapons and disappear if hit dead/square on. If Target falls/touches you, damage is registered as though it's a 'bullet' or opponent. Prefferably I would like to know if it is possible to calculate the damage percentage according to how long it touches you (like a zombie grab, the longer you take it, the more damage ensues). 3. Scoring of # of targets hit is a huge bonus. Any and all quotes will be considered.

  11. I've had people ask me if megas sunk into the ground contribute strangely to lag, presumably due to collisions. I wonder if there is any actual weirdness with those???
  12. Fantastic Poke me inworld so I can send you a special 'welcome to the family' type giftie for your new av!
  13. I'm terribly late in finding this post but just wanted to say a couple of things in hopes that it helps. With petite av's there is indeed a glitchy clothing situation where if you wear for example, more than one overlapping mesh (especially in the torso) you will see some nipple action going on. I don't see it often if I have the mesh body with 1 layer of mesh clothes, but if I add something like a tattoo mesh with lots of alpha, then out come my boobs which was not my intent. Sculpted clothing (for example, Severed Garden does awesome stuff for petites) can help allay some of those situations, however if someone doesn't rez the sculpt then you're back to square one. If confronted about this situation, I simply explain that it's a glitch that I can't fix by tossing on a garment layer, and that if I need to leave, I will. I have a very low tolerance and understanding of why glitches like this result in bans or ejections. I feel that we're all adults and that regardless of the ratings, we shouldn't be punished for accidental peeks of our bodies.~shrugs~ Best of luck to you and yours!
  14. Super yay! I would love to talk with you inworld and invite you over when it gets closer to being up. Please friend me, or I will offer friendship to you, if that's cool.
  15. If you're willing to openly answer a few questions here on the forums, I think that it might possibly help you find some partners. If not please just ignore me. 1. Are you focusing on a particular set of products? Clothes, Furniture, Houses, etc? 2. Are you hoping for fantasy or surreal designs? 3. What advantages are you offering for such partners?
  16. My pleasure Jacki! I visited late last night and found that a new designer is doing ball jointed dolls as petites. They are so adorable! I made doll av's way back when, so I may end up getting one of these. They are unusual looking, with one for sale that is marked as as a full custom, meaning the designer will let you get a fully original of your choice for a little over 7k. Super cool!! On a side note:I hope that the marketplace might take into consideration a whole new category of clothing to help avoid confusion between petite sized clothing and the rest, as well as making it easier to find. I have a heck of a time using the mp. for such searches.
  17. I'm going to echo some of what Am. has already stated but give you a little more detail. Petite mesh avatars are (not solely, but primarily) created by Yabusaka Loon (forgive spelling) and are for sale at the Petite Avatar Kingdom. (search will get you there on that phrase). Other creators include Skinthesis and Plastik. New designers are coming in every month. Because Yabusaka gives the templates away for free, many designers have opted to create for this new standard in height and shape rather than to recreate the wheel. The templates work similarly to the Linden based clothing templates however I've been told that you can't layer, and there's a degree of difficulty that is involved. Basing everyone's designs off of the same shape lends towards all of the mesh rigging to be universal, ie, everything will fit if it's made to this same standard. The basic format is a humanoid that is very small, and while I do not have the measurements on hand atm, I would say around a fifth the size perhaps. They often have fairy or elflike earlobes, elongated to a point with female cleavage options and a 'medium' size breast on females. Reportedly the males often come with mini genitals. Similar skin options to that of typical humanoid skin design are popular, with variations in tone/tan and makeup. The males are much better than what you might expect. The wonderful Sredni from Avatar Bizarre is making men's clothing too. They cannot wear clothing layers that are often called garment layers like the undershirt, shirt, jacket and glove, underpant, pant, sock, tattoo layers. The mesh conceals all of that, and while it looks like the slider generated body somewhat, it is actually like a sculpt in many ways. Your slider body is blanked out by a full alpha mask that you wear under the mesh. The hands come in different positions and don't suffer from the polygon/triangular wrist syndrome. The ankles are also more smooth, and the feet are like wearing bare prim feet from someone like SLink. The face has a better shaped nose area too. I suspect that you'll see built in piercings as well as other body mods coming soon. They can wear mesh clothing and sculpted prim clothing. The mesh clothing often appears to look just like garment layer clothing. Many sculpted pieces of jewelry that are already done with nano prims, have difficulty in getting any smaller, so it can be hard to decrease the size of the same jewelry your normal av wears for you. The feet can be removed to allow for shoes, but if the shoe has no foot below the ankle, your only choice is to wear the mesh feet and shoe at the same time, which can cause some conflict if the shoe has prim toes. Be careful what you buy, and look for 'fits petite avatars' first and foremost. Reshaping the body is very hard if not impossible in many areas with sliders. Don't expect to be seeing chubby petites running rampant until some designers get serious about alternative body styles. Ethnic colorations do exist, as well as demonoid, mermaid, and cyborg. A few creators have out their own original avatars that aren't based on the same Yabusaka templates. One creator is giving away an entire petite-like av for free in her store C.O. called the Minikin. It doesn't fit the petite sized clothing however she's a brilliantly talented designer who's making her own line for them. Hair seems easier to resize for them, unless it has a lot of completely flat flexible pieces, in which case I suggest using a free prim resizer script. Plenty of mesh hair is out now for petites too, one good example being Emo-tions, and my favorite, Wasabi Pills. Because the bulk of the avs are coming from the same designer, they often share very similar facial features. One benefit is that the entire body can be set to glow, shine, and tinted any shade you wish. They are already selling makeup options individually so that you don't have to replace the entire body. Some also feature body paints/tattoos, including facial designs. It is possible to wear tattoos as mesh, and it's also possible to animate those textures for twinkle effects. I look forward to seeing more creative animated textures similiar to what Wunderlich's has done in 'biggies'. If you don't wish to be a fantasy humanoid, it is easy enough to either cover up the ears, buy one with normal ears, on newer models you can make the ears invisible, or simply don't dress the part. While you may personally find the features too young looking, or just not to your liking, they are incredibly well made little avs. Look for more petite furries coming soon, and more petite fantasy creatures in atypical humanoid design. One last note, and possibly the best feature. They work with normal animations! Your furniture poses may need to be moved downward a fair bit so that you're not floating over a chair for examle, but your dances will work really well. Sometimes you may 'sink' into the ground (linden or prim) but you can always modify your z coordinate a little with the new features found in clients like Phoenix . My normal size AO works as well as my HUDDLES that contains tons of dances. I've not attempted an Intan yet, and imagine that I'll have to dance in midair if doing a couples dance with a normal sized avatar. Ymmv. Free shoulder carriers are available through the group named simply ~petites~ if you search back notices that allows a normal 'biggie' sized av to carry a petite on their shoulder through use of a vehicle. Other fun gizmos like camera HUDS can easily be found from stores like Thingies & Co. that will help you truly feel miniature. To find the group joiner please go to Petite Kingdom or simply double click it on my profile inworld. It's free to join. Hope this helps, Subversive Vavoom ShrinkyDink Petites
  18. In general, ever since getting sucked into the Anne Rice series as a kid, I find them sexy *because* they are scary. Each different portayal has a different level of both the fright and sex appeal. The twinkly-pires aren't either for me, as they just seem full of angst and boredom. The issue that I take with the goth and emo vamp crowd in SL is the notion that being depressed, mean, rude, and visciously clannish is somehow cool. I don't hold it against them, but I refuse to celebrate how cool you are based solely on the number of piercings in your head or the wrath that will be incurred if I offend your virtual family. When I hear 'that's my brudderpooh', I shudder, but not in fear. Bloodlines ruined vampire play for me in SL. I tried it for about a month, and quickly realised that I was helping to create a bad situation. The fact remains that it brought a lot of people further into the game than they may have gone without it though. I much prefer wandering through a dark back alley or foggy wharf and getting enticed into their London flat than having to brandish my garlic necklace in broad daylight while shopping^^! Call me nuts...Fads come and go, which is fine. The labs were preeettty slow in catching on with their vampire avs and homepage splash. Wtg. To answer your question more bluntly, it really depends on the person, the setting, and the execution, as with anything else.
  19. I've seen a few random threads about those seeking out petite Rp, so I thought I would put out an offical query as to who is really serious about contributing towards a petite only area as well as just visiting. I'm not looking for financial offers, but rather people who will come and PARTICIPATE :) If you have any experience in running Rp and willing to advise or keep an eye on things, please message me inworld. I would like to find people who could serve as mentors, greeters, or leaders who have the free time as well as the conviction. If you are interested in a communal petite living environment, please let me know privately what your needs are in prims and style. I hope to blend in a few homes to make it all feel more real (all petite sized of course) and help support it. If you're against this idea, want to squabble or find this offensive, please just bugger off or I'll bite your big toe :smileylol:
  20. Hi Ad! I'd like to let you know that I'm in negotiations to get a quarter of a sim and do up a petite theme like described. I'll be sure to post back here when it comes to pass. The decor will be both petite sized and large, in order to emphasize to the imagination that we are petites. I find that having a bunch of *only* the tiny stuff ruins the fun because you lose the sense of scale. The area will be PG rated, and open to all. I suck at running strict RP, but I do want to create a little haven that is different from what's currently out there. I've been working on a teenie tiny city for King Kong, as well as a fantasy area like Arthur and the Incredibles. There will be invisible height restrictions built into some areas so that there are lots of hidey holes too, since we don't always want to get squooshed I'm hoping that I'll be able to rent out some parcels to petites so that there is always someone around to keep an eye on it. I do a petite as well as a tiny bunny av. I have the Mynerva and the Skinthesis doll petite. I would love to have some Gulliver inspired adventures!
  21. RyanEric, You might visit the Azure Islands website: http://azure.anshex.com/land/parcels They are easy to work with as I expect most of the big land barons are (they have it down to a science). Best of luck!
  22. You had me at "Hello, Avatar". Although I can keep you to myself, I must admit I get the most enjoyment out of sharing you fully with all.Your chameleon-like ability to change and adapt to what I want is nothing short of amazing. You are so flexible! If you were to ever become temporary and disappear, I would feel hollow inside. Tapering off our relationship would be devastating as nothing can copy you.I must be fully transparent about my feelings for you. I hope your coordinates will always be at my side. We are part of a linkset. In the old days, slipping that touch of magic inside you and seeing you twist with glee made me glow with pride. Sometimes I think you see right through me, for my true colors. If I could select the face to show you at all times it would be that of 98% joy.Baby, you make my world rotate.
  23. Is there a way to deed a nontrans item to group that I'm unaware of? Yes, I can mod/copy it. No, I cannot make it transferrable. Yes, It has nontrans scripts inside it that I did not create. Yes, it is deeded to the right group. Yes, I am an officer of the group and can deed anything else that is trans. Please help :)
  24. I notice that you cite in the video an event listing that does not meet event posting rules, and who repetitively violates those policies on the event calendar. The rule in question is in the second sentence: "PLEASE NOTE: Advertisements for commercial products or services will be deleted from the events calendar. " I would like to know when someone is going to start enforcing the event posting rules. I am a five and a half year resident who has never once seen the events calendar cleaned up.
