Because with reviews, it's between them and the customers not the customer and everyone else in there at the time.. Groups, you have to deal with the loyalists that are hanging in there to defend anything someone may say that would get them ganged up on..

Plus it's easy access to all your customers that qualify.

The review is public, so it is not just between the creator and the customer. The issue of having to deal with others in a group could easily be solved by messaging the creator directly. I fail to see how "I will give you money if you review my product" gets more honest feedback in any way that is useful.

The one that I know that does it, does it only with  customers that have the same product, but for a different body. Plus it only goes on for two weeks after the release of the version of the product..

They  want only honest reviews for the feed back from their customers.. I guess it helps with what may need to be updated  or what is working well.. things like that..

I am not sure how paying for reviews is getting helpful feedback. They could just ask in their group or Discord for honest feedback.

I don't think it's wrong. These rebates tend to be offered in the store group, so it's basically a bonus for being a group member. It helps the merchant boost their ratings and visibility on MP.

I have seen it directly on marketplace listings and also on Flickr, not just in groups. Something about the practice just seems wrong to me - that they are essentially buying reviews and artificially inflating their ratings.

  4. I use a variety of processes for my AI avatar pics. I have a headshot of my av I use as a base every time for consistency, and when I do images for others I take a close up headshot with just a hairbase on standing in front of a plain background. I subscribe to a service called Gencraft that has a feature called photobooth that lets you use an image as the basis for your picture. It does not reproduce the image like a reference image does, it uses the features of your avatar on the AI generated image for some beautiful results. Combining it with various models and styles, you can create some incredible images. You do have to know what you are doing in terms of creating prompts, but Gencraft can also enhance your prompt with AI as well.

A lot of times, I also expand the image using Photoshop’s generative AI features. This allows me to widen a shot that may be square to add more detail to it. Photoshop has been aggressively adding new AI features. You can now generate new images directly in the latest beta.

Here are some examples, they all use the same headshot of my avatar in Gencraft and have been expanded with Photoshop:

  5. I am still partial to Skyler. I am using the “dated” version, as the update that unlocked the sliders never looked quite the way I wanted. They keep bringing both versions forward with each update.  I have tried a few newer releases but none have felt like “me”.

Or they use an adult head and think it looks like a child, but it doesn't look like it but it's on a child avatar body, For example.

The face look like some 20 year old woman's face but it's on a child's body.

No disrespect to whoever that is, but that is some uncanny valley level ***** right there. 😱

But, what child avatar wants to take the chance.? If some meanie runs around de-rendering clothing on child avatars to see if they are in "modesty" compliance and AR's any that are not - that is not a risk many would want to take.

I did forget about people creepy enough to derender and then report. However, an alpha layer underneath would protect against that too.

To you and me, NO.  To LL, it sounds like it does matter.

They seem to want to completely remove the ability for a child avatar to ever show nipples/genitals.  That seems to be the critical part.

However, that critical part will still only ever apply to avatars that are using an obvious child avatar, rather than someone that is simply a 15-17 yr old teen.

It seems difficult to enforce if someone is dressed and never naked.

The FAQ does pretty much address this:

    image.png.20942ff8b7dc6164d5b5d1762e27204e.png

    image.png.1b48c013740a573375909a3d48e3be43.png

Though I still think that they should be able to use old avatars with BOM layers and/or alpha area.

I'm assuming that by forcing child avatars to have modesty layers, LL removes any doubt of whether or not said child avatar removed BOM layers to show genitals.

The thing is though, even in that answer, it does not address this question. If the child avatar is not naked, and is fully covered, does it matter that there is no modesty layer on an alphaed out part of a body?

There is a faq out there tha makes it clear that it applies to all content,  past, present and future.   Basically, in one move this renders years worth of content as worthless.  An it really doesn't make sense as you say as applied alphas will solve the problem in almost every case.

Maybe clarification can be given on this issue. Also, unless you are running around naked, how would one even know if the modesty layer was there or not?
