I would think more individuals would be fighting this thing, but it's all quite confusing. I can point out several marketplace listings right now that would get SL shut down permanently if SOPA passes. So, just cus SL is stationed in the USA... *begin sarcasm* Of course that doesn't effect any of the people who don't live in the US *end sarcasm* Linden Labs would be held responsible for it's users... if it can't make sure it's users are following the new laws (regardless if they're from the US or not) the companies that want their copyrighted materials off SL could just have it shut down. See, it's not just about piracy... it's about that Greenbay Packers logo you have in SL that you don't have written permission to use... or that avatar you have of Catwoman or Batman that the creator didn't have written permission to create and sell... or those movies you bought in SL, are you sure that the owner of that store has written permission from all those entertainment businesses to let you stream and view them? Every single day we do this kinda stuff... not because we want to steal, but because we're fans and we want to show our interests or support. mainland requires premium membership, it works by buying the mainland parcel with L$ then paying a monthly fee using RL money. you also have the option to rent land from other residents. you can pay the rent with L$ and some allow payment with RL money but not a whole lot of them do.

I'm glad things have worked out for you so far... but quite honestly there is no way to get rid of the bigger griefers... I pray whoever was griefing you won't come back, but if he/she is smart... they will. Clear out your mute list every month... alts get banned and they just make more, so no need leaving those muted when they're not going to bother you anymore... and from what I hear there is a limit on how many things and people you can mute. I have a friend who went through similar things and still is. He eventually swapped off to an alt because it got so bad... And this person who was causing the drama was perma banned several times on every level of ban there was. I personally wish that LL would take some legal action or assist in legal action on some of these people, especially those that are repeat offenders.

The confusion with people thinking Emerald is a bad program is because there IS a viewer or two out there that display in Second Life as Emerald (and can also pretend to be other viewers as well) which is used by griefers. This is because they're using the Emerald source code as the base for their malicious viewers since Emerald has a lot of goodies packed in that your standard viewer doesn't. This sort of thing, false accusations, are going to start to become more common place as long as the mass of SL fear and are misinformed. You will not see a whole lot of these griefer pretenders out there, so don't freak out with every Emerald viewer user you see, cus there's a lot of us. On my sim alone there's at least 7 of us that use Emerald, and many of my employees also use Emerald.
