  1. this is semantics... I only refer to them as gatchas, but only because there's no term for them now... random vendors I guess? I can go back and edit all my previous posts if you want.
  2. I hope a good solution for you creators is found. 💕
  3. I'm sure they could. all I'm saying is that they might not have to, which would make the creators that rely on gatchas happy. I'm not saying that right, but I can see this causing a lot of good experienced SL creators to just leave and roll up shop.
  4. then what is the difference to the proposed new gatcha system like in the video versus a one of a kind vendor? which I don't think anybody would consider a gatcha.
  5. sorry if I'm frustrating you. I don't mean to. 💕
  6. then... if it's just a simple vendor now, who cares how a store wants to do their sales?
  7. "why the heck.would anyone buy it?" the argument would be "you pass by hundreds of vendors a day that you don't want to buy from this one is no different. just because the item that you want isn't immediately available, doesn't mean you have to buy the thing you don't want." "I have to buy a coffee maker, a teapot and a hair dryer before they let me buy my toaster." counter-argument "those are walmart's rules. you can buy a simlar toaster from a place that isn't walmart" please note that I'm just playing devils advocate.
  8. it's a fine line sure, but there is a line. say this wasn't a gatcha vendor, say it was a one of kind vendor that sells 100 unique items of all kinds. once a purchase has been made, there is no more of that item, so the vendor moves on to the next item randomly. this isn't againt any rules that I know of. what is the difference between the one of a kind vendor and the gatcha one demonstrated in that video?
  9. but it's not. you know what item you'll be getting every time you buy.
  10. OOOH ok.. I thought you were quoting a what a lawyer said to LL. yea, they could say that, but if this fulfills the rules they've been advised then this whole thing may not be an issue
  11. the problem as I understand it is that gatchas don't tell you what you'll get. so you are buying blind. with the hovertext it tells you. so you know what you're buying. it seems to fulfill the rules. I don't personally care about gatchas, but I find this fascinating from just a rules standpoint
  12. where is that quote from? I don't doubt you but was just wondering
  13. the hovertext and the buying box that both say what you're buying
  14. no, it doesn't make sense in an ethical sense, but maybe in a legal sense it does. so they don't mind gatchas if residents can think of a legal way around them
  15. they can also lock it out to one avi for a short time so it can't get stolen
  16. Thank you. please make sure to cover breedables and gatchas that tell you what the item is currently
  17. I don't do them in the first place, so no, I never wait. but people will wait
  18. oh I agree completely. it would just be a way of keeping gatchas in the rules and not fix the problem of gatchas. but I would rather have gatchas stay if it's keeping good makers, which are already getting more rare, in SL.
  19. I agree personally, and don't think it will help people who have a real problem with gachas.
  20. as I understand it, an avi lock could be made where if in 1 minute the person who just purchased has a chance to buy more and only they can buy
  21. as I understand it, an avi lock could be made where if in 1 minute the person who just purchased has a chance to buy more and only they can buy
  22. 🤷‍♀️ I don't know. I don't even really like gatchas, other then the cheap commons in the MP I gobble up. I just thought that this was a clever workaround because it meets all the new rules but also makes it so it's still a thing. Lidens need to give clarity I guess.
  23. you aren't paying for the next item, you are paying for the item it says in the hovertext. what items the vendor has in it has nothing to do with one purchase to the next
  24. how would it not be allowed? you are clearly being told what item you're getting, there are no rules for what item the vendor sells next. only that the item be clearly stated, which would be "fixed" by hovertext
