For me, the Fantasy Homes are the Lost Lands. Those regions could be trivially connected by water at many places but are constrained to a single northern entrance that is only interesting the first time you cross. The area is covered by water channels yet there is no water extending into resident parcels. You can’t have a dock with a boat. All that beautiful coastal waterway edging seems wasted. I wish they would pick up those regions and redeploy along the northern coast of the Log Homes, completing the Great Bellisseria Waterway extending from the Satori connection at Stromberg to Old Belli.

They don't need to destroy one area you don't like much to build the area you really want. It's time they're lacking for getting all the things done at once. I know there's a lot of hate for the fantasy area on the forum, but plenty of people live there and like it. Some themes just might not be for you.

Wow, there are a bunch of HUGE colored development areas up near the New Noirs!!

Most of them are map ghosts from previous work. When you're zoomed in enough to see region names, but they don't have a name, there isn't really a region there. The only other big chunk remaining is the pink one, which is sakura.

There are also some odd regions that are most likely things like community regions, but I'm not seeing any new action on those.

The new black bit is recent though and it seems even more likely it's a void fill given the Victorian one has begun.

  3. Hopefully they fill the whole void there (other than the buffer zone for fantasy). It does make the most sense for the community center, as the other unfinished Victorian bit is a squishy edge on the log area. There's more space to work with in the void bit and it's more central to the theme.

I got a boat in the new releases as a premium only member, they started coming out as I was hopping other boats - but I don't understand the PP system - when I used it previously I was told only homes marked LH were reservable or at least that was my understanding of it - some of these homes were marked protected land I think? Put me right if incorrect!

That glitch has happened before with a Victorian region...

They didn't assign the parcels in the sense of setting ownership on the "Protected Land" regions. It was simply a parcel name change, until the regions were released and they could be assigned properly. My guess would be that it was intended that each region would release, the ticket houses assigned, then onwards to the next. This is what happened with the last big stilt release. But something didn't go to plan, so the ones on unreleased regions were marked ready for when it was sorted out.

People start ticketing when they see the region name changes happen, which is sensible. Chances are the release will be the next day, so it means the tickets are waiting.

So, you are of the "We had to destroy the village in order to save it" school of thought?

Personally, if I used sound and could hear it, I'd track down the problem object. But I realise that a lot of people struggle to do that, so just derendering the lot is a simpler way to handle it. The chances of a neighbour with foghorn-level ambient sounds having a beautiful parcel that would be sad to never see again is not that likely. This has nothing to do with murdering people in villages. It's a virtual world, no objects will be harmed, and it can be reversed at any point with a few menu clicks.

A thought: Would setting a anti-bot CAPTCHA on log in similar to how MFA works for accounts that are presumably human (aren't marked as a bot under 'Accounts') would help streamline a way to simply tick off 'no bots' under land options as a default land management option? It will be an extra step when you attempt to log into SL as a human, but it will help force bots to function online by being properly labeled as bots under the 'Account' menu.

Those tests are an accessibility nightmare, so it adds to the annoyance for regular users. For the purposes of this suggestion, we're assuming good faith, which means the bot runners will mark their bots because they're not actually trying to break rules and annoy everybody.

I'd rather have a checkbox on parcels (and have this allowed for Linden Homes, as bots landing in homes is a regular problem), but I don't see why we can't have that and a way to detect them via script. Then people can choose the one that works best for what they need. I'd also like to see it appear in the profiles of bots, so people don't have to use a script.

  7. It's probably a regular object that's playing sounds via scripts. Media isn't stopped by selecting the option to restrict sound to a parcel, so if you can keep the sounds out of your land with that option, it's not media and won't appear in the media list. (Media can now be restricted with "obscure MOAP" in some newer viewers, but this is a different tick box to the sound one.)

You don't actually need to find the sound emitter if you decide to abuse report it. Just explain in the report that you couldn't find the emitters, but give them the location you think is closest. They'll know how to find them.

If all you want to do is derender and blacklist the emitters to shut them up, pull a selection box over the parcel and just derender everything. The objects causing the issue will be in there somewhere.

HOLD UP! WAIT A MINUTE !🖐️ You'e telling me people have boxes full of stuff that I can buy and just look through. Sort of like thrifting ?

Why would you think it was a good idea to tell me this on a post about sorting out my inventory ? ** cries in lindens ** where do I find these fun little boxes at ?

The good news for your inventory is it takes time to find them. I spend time wandering around yard sales and similar. Inventory clearout boxes are more likely to be on random parcels in search where the owner is just clearing stuff, rather than yard sale market regions. Regular yard sale people will also sometimes box stuff up to sell, though these boxes tend to cost more (it helps to know your brands, to know if the box is worth it).

I don't end up with a huge inventory, because I'm selective about what I buy and I only keep a few of the things. I have spaces to sell or give away the rest.

  9. Nothing on my wishlist is that price, but I checked my transaction history. I have some L$5 purchases. One was a gacha resale machine, where people load the items in and it announces which one is for sale. I don't remember which item I got from it (I got a lot of stuff that day). The others were inventory clearout boxes that someone was selling for L$5 each. I'll buy those if they're decor items and cheap, as I can sort through them, resell a few things, and give the rest away.

In Walrus Carpenter I see two named "1. Protected Land" and "2. Protected Land".   I've never seen that before, does that mean they've been PP ticketed?

That was my guess, though there also might be regions mixed in that were named by someone (I believe that auction prize comes with the option of living in the region). All round, it makes little difference in the end, as many of those ticketed houses get abandoned and there are more great houses in that area than people likely to ticket them.

What shall we call this whole area, anyway?  Belli Boatyard?  Sliced Pickle? 😎

The moldy pickle, because it's mostly green with little yellow patches.

Not much movement on the regions. A few parcels have name changes that make me think they got ticketed, though I'm surprised people are risking it for the west side. That has plenty of space to build and the void view is not likely to last. Anyway, no signs of them being assigned from the regular queue yet.

  12. Regions in the new houseboat area have been given their final names and the border removed. Start looking at Walrus Carpenter (or SSPWalrus Carpenter if it's not updated) and the area around there.

I was looking at that BonnieBots site yesterday and was surprised to find that there are still more than 15 000 first generation houses occupied. When we consider all the options in belli, even if people want to keep the 512 plot, I wonder if info about the new home are getting to all the residents.

It isn't getting to all residents. We see people who've only just discovered the new homes popping up. Also, people who did know there was an update and got an early new home, but don't realise there are other themes and it's not so hard to get a house now. Anytime they do a theme display at an event, there are people wandering around asking very basic questions about how the homes work. Most people don't check the forums, blog or login messages. So if they don't stumble across it, they won't know.

Phew, I was there for it last year with some "only-expo" art and planned to apply/attend this year and thought I'd missed some notification from the organizers, yay!

The Living Expo is open for applications and they have an artwalk thing they announced, so I'd suggest that now is a good time if you haven't applied yet. It didn't happen last year in this way with these organisers, as this is the new rethink on the Home and Garden Expo. There's now an inworld group for keeping up with it (SL Living Expo founded by THE AmericanCancer Resident) which has the main links in the group description and notices as stuff happens.

There hasn't been any comment on the expo channels about Linden displays and such. Even if they don't do a reveal, it's an obvious one for some sort of demo area with house examples. I almost wrote demon area, but that's something the moles have done before as well, so it still works.

FINALLY!!!  Looks like they've started building out a set of tiles for a new theme.

Black was the newbrooke colour, so it could also be they're working on whatever is going in the void there.

I had always imagined and assumed that a "Ranch House" theme would be a rural house that look like this (below), on a ranch. We don't have Ranch Houses in the UK and Europe. But we did get to watch "Dallas" !

I'd originally assumed it meant a rural farmhouse type thing too, but a lot of the houses don't look the way I'd imagined from the theme name. The chalets aren't Swiss chalets. The Victorians are made of wood, rather than the brick ones I grew up around. All in all, it's best to assume nothing about how a theme will look until it's revealed.

  17. One thing that can go wrong is that bits of unconnected land can end up in the same parcel, even though they don't touch. Suppose you had a long piece of land. You subdivide the middle to make a new parcel. The two ends are still the same original parcel, but they don't really look it as the middle parcel is between them... so it'd be easy to abandon one end thinking the other end was a different parcel. One trick to be really sure is to rename the bit you plan to abandon, then check the name of the bit you want to keep. If they've both changed, you know you messed up somewhere.

Wasn't there talk at some point that the 2048s might offer a selection of homes from various themes?

They changed how things worked so that any theme (except fantasy) could be combined on one region. That doesn't mean they were suggesting there'd be regions with houses of random themes mixed up. I expect it'll be used for things like the edges of areas where one house type meets another. There are some regions where this happens already, but some themes didn't play nicely together apparently.
