  1. I'm from the UK and this is the first time I've ever heard the term "floathome". The houseboats that I've stayed in looked more like the ones they made for the Linden Homes. When it's a boat that has been turned into a building, I'd call it a boat house. When it's a boat that can still be used as a boat and you live in it, that's just a boat.

That aside, every theme is a specific sort of house that could be described by the name. If they did another sort of house that could be described by the same name, it'd be a new theme. They're kind of busy with another theme build right now.

They've had demo reveals in  events before, so I was really hoping we'd have one at SL20B. But after the Newbrooke debacle sadly I think I have to agree they might do that again:(

I think Patch got what I meant, but to be clear, I was talking about reveals where they don't have everything ready. For a complete reveal, they'd need the house (with options ready to show), the landscaping and the region layout all done. It's not enough to just have the house.

That did not happen with Vics. People liked it.

That reveal was not an empty region with just a house on it. Nor was modern, but not having the final textures on the houses was enough to cause a problem.

I get that it's weird if you can imagine things. It's not how I think either, as I'd only need very basic information to put together an example region in my head. But there are plenty of people who don't think that way. A reveal that does not look close to a finished region with finished houses is asking for pain.

  3. Map spying forever! Though as far as incomplete demos go, I doubt they'll do that again after the modern reveal. There were enough people who couldn't imagine how the houses would look when finished to generate endless complaints. They ended up redoing the demo.

If they put a house in a featureless region, people would complain that the landscaping is terrible or that the house style looks stark and uninviting (because there's nothing around it). They know that they can't rely on people to imagine what it'll look like when it's in a finished region.

    yes its dying..

I have very few that I can say as friend, since I dont do random hookup or elwhat they call poly.

I found SL is a world of poly sexual and poly romantic platform. , gore roleplay and bdsm .

When you arent in the lifestyle you be end up alone.

I feel peopke here just want to experience sexual side rather than true friendship. Its kind lika a lust game .

There are non-adult events all through the year, from big feature ones to small gatherings. There are so many events that there's no way I could attend them all. I did the Caledon rose hunt over the weekend, Sci-Fi Con is 31st March, and Fantasy Faire is 20th April. I don't actually have time to go to the various random parties and fishing contests, but there are multiples announced in my groups every day. Plenty of people want those events and make friends. It's all out there if you want it.

  5. Searches today won't be the same as a few days back anyway, because they changed the default from OR to AND. What was happening before was that purple mushrooms would bring up anything that was purple OR mushrooms. The result was a bunch of clothes and stuff before getting to anything resembling a mushroom. Now, they've got it to default to purple AND mushrooms, so the results are closer to what you'd expect. Which is why I suspect I've started to see mushroom sales again.

You wouldn't see this for some items,  particularly clothes, as they were often the thing that'd be pushed to the top as most relevant (even when they really weren't).

What does still seem weird is how it decides what is a bestseller, because I know the things it's bringing up from my store are not my bestsellers and have not sold recently. I suspect this is why searches can end up with a lot of outdated items at the top, because sales stats aren't being properly taken into account.

for people like me, it's not the doubt if it goes to ACS, but about what they do with it.
(in EU it would be impossible to run a non profit in the way they do)

The concern raised was whether the money got to the charity, not about what the charity did with it. My post answered that concern and not any other. I personally don't think the perfect charity exists, and if you wait for it, you'll just end up helping nobody. I've seen way too many people who say they won't support RFL who also happen not to support any of the other charity events either.

The original poster's situation is a little different, but not doing charity unless it comes with tax benefits can also result in not doing a whole lot of anything for anyone.

  7. I don't sell full sets, so I can't answer that. I can answer questions about unboxing.

For the marketplace, if you don't need to open a box, it's best not to open the box. There's a chance that you'll lose bits of a complicated item or that mod items could have been altered. Inworld is more complicated. Wearables are usually best in the box, but decor can benefit from being unboxed and put out on display.

Let people know if that item is not in the original box in the listing (if it was never boxed, that's fine, no need to mention that). Leave the things you haven't unboxed in their boxes. Whether you include empty original boxes or not... it's unlikely to matter. An empty box would have to be very special to be kept.

Being that this event is made up of different smaller events in hopes of receiving donations for Relay for Life, ultimately these funds are suppose to be given to the American Cancer Society, but I have little faith in the stewardship of Relay for Life. I am asking for the designers and creators, owners and those who support Linden labs everyday by paying for any item that is bought in Second Life.

People have covered the tax thing, but on whether the money gets to the charity, yes it does. ACS have their own accounts on Second Life and send out official vendors and kiosks that pay the donations directly to them. When a kiosk or vendor gets paid, it is initially sent to the person who placed the item, but is immediately and automatically sent on to the charity's avatar. You're not relying on a regular resident holding all the money and being honest about passing it on.

i only said cultured since some country's views are different from others so it was a mention since japan's laws are a bit questionable. so as to why i said cultured is more over the controversy behind that. lol like i am not a dead on Hardcore anime enthused individual. i watch it based on some well known voice actors and got introduced by it like john young bosch and so on. it was more just a discussion and see where people's views are. it's not to raise brows on but i know some people argue that LL tos regulations seem translucent and it great to get other communities voices and opinions herd.

If you aren't intending to wear a child anime avatar and have sex, then you don't need to worry about it. If you want to wear an anime avatar to feed the ducks and visit art galleries, then you don't need to worry about it. If you're intending to wear an adult anime avatar and have sex, you'll find some places will not allow that, which is up to the land owner. The official rules don't disallow that in general, as long as the avatar is clearly an adult, so any action would only be for that location (you might get banned from a region, but not from Second Life). That's all you need to know.

Community discussion is meaningless when it comes to the risks a particular individual has chosen to take, either with their personal partner choice, or who they allow to have sex on their land. They said no. Nobody else gets a say in that. You accept it and move on.

  10. I've had neighbours try to grief me in the past. I still live on the same bit of land. They don't. Most people don't stick around for long. Also, if they do escalate, they'll end up doing something reportable and it can be clearly demonstrated that it was malicious.

Anyway, in this case, derender the objects and reduce your draw distance. It only needs to be enough to see your own stuff.

If by this you mean that it is terrible to not have all themes available, I agree. Might we have all themes available if stockpiling Fantasy Homes for V1 residents was not a priority?

They haven't built new regions for fantasy for some time. There have been multiple new themes and extensions to themes since then. It simply isn't logical to blame fantasy for everything. But this was never about logic. You don't criticise the finances of things you want and like (water regions), only the things you don't want and dislike (fantasy, because it wasn't the sailing experience you wanted). We all have our preferences, but I wish you'd frame it that way, rather than making this out to be about the greater good.

At some point, we all have to accept that they will spend money on things that other residents want and we don't. They're going to need to close the old homes eventually, so it's great if they spend money on making sure there are homes to cover that. It'll benefit a lot of residents and really hasn't been a hardship for people currently in the newer homes.

Oyster Parade, the last unreleased stilt region, is named and the border is gone. Still "Protected Land" at the moment.

I thought there had to be more and there are. The rest of the houseboat regions down the railtrack have their final names. This includes Some Pig, which has a train station. Landho is also renamed, which is at the start of the channel that separates newbrooke and chalets.

  13. It always seemed obvious to me that they were building a surplus of as many themes as they could, so that they'd have enough to deal with closing the old regions. For some themes, the initial release is enough, and for others they need to build more. Also it was clear they wanted a variety of themes, so they could appeal to different niches, rather than just building one mainstream theme and having all the houses be that theme. Only one theme would ultimately mean fewer subscribers, because of the lack of choice. It doesn't matter that some themes aren't as popular, because those themes will have fewer houses in the end. It all balances out.

I don't understand the narrative that this is a tragedy. The terribleness of being able to go to the land page and have a choice of houses waiting, instead of having to use a page autoloader for six months and hoping you're awake and can press the buttons fast enough when a house finally appears.

  14. Fantasy has switched to spring (green), though not quite when I expected. I'd assumed it'd change just past midnight, when March began. It actually changed a bit past 10pm SLT the night before. I've not been there when it's happened before, so thought that might interest people.

  15. As near as I can tell from what people have said, the pets seem to be designed to brick if they can't contact the server when they're first rezzed. So they become generic grey placeholders and unresponsive. The ones that are already out appear to be carrying on for now, but I suggest that you don't try to pick them up. I wish more breedable systems told people what would happen if the server disappeared tomorrow (and designed the system so the answer to that is permapets continue working as though nothing has happened).

Unfortunately, I can't even find a way to report the MP items to LL.  Since none of those breedables can communicate with the server anymore, they are not a viable product to sell.

It is highly unlikely that the re-sellers do not know about it, because none of their own inworld rezzed items will be functioning anymore either.

Active breeders will obviously know, but a lot of people drift around different games and take breaks. When it came up in groups, there were always people surprised, because they only had boxes and no active pets. The fact that word went out via notecards handed from person to person meant the news didn't exactly get to everyone. If someone refuses to take them off sale after being told they're junk, that's different. But a lot of people still don't know.

  17. There was a notecard going around the groups about them shutting down due to a dispute between the owners. I was surprised nobody was talking about it on the forums, but here we are now. The number of breedables markets listing them has been dropping in search, but not all places have figured out what's going on yet. It's possible the seller on the marketplace didn't know either (you can't list their name here either way under the forum rules, so I'd suggest editing that out).

Maybe I am missing something here?

I too don't like anyone direct marketing their services, but where is the scam here? Direct marketing so far as i know is not against any rules, except personal etiquette ones. People do make money here doing  portrait photographs.

There are some that might actually be selling the service for real, but chances are you'll be hit with delays, complications and poor communication... because these are people who struggled to get clients for a reason. Some aren't actually selling the service and will take the money and run, which is a clear scam. Some will give you phishing links instead of it being their Flickr. Some are just looking for sex. In the end, you don't need to know which category they're in, because you'd do better going to someone with a history of good service.

  19. Something that can help you plan is using the revert function in the terraforming tool. Take it all back to the original levels. Then you'll see clearly what you can raise or lower. For a slope, you will find it's best to flatten bits of it and not to attempt to flatten the whole thing. So you end up with more of a terrace effect, with some flatter areas and some slopes between them. Or you can go full terrace and make the edges of the flat bits sharp and put walls over them.

Alternatively, just accept it's a slope, smooth it out, and put any buildings on stilts or a foundation.

But, say you have a yearly PP subscription, if you fall back to Premium do they "credit" you the remaining months that you already paid for at the plus rate?  For example, I've assumed that if I have a yearly Plus membership that expires in 6 months, and want to downgrade now to yearly Premium, I'd have to pay an entire 99$ for a year of Premium.  Or do they credit me with half a year of PP (almost 90$), so I end up paying around 10$?  How does downgrading work, moneywise?

I've not needed to do it because I don't have the sort of money to pay for something on that basis. These threads are often boggling to me, because I did all the calculations, checked everything carefully (such as making sure there was a house I wanted) and considered what I could go without to afford it. The idea of paying for a whole year for something that wasn't ready yet and you might hate when it's finally revealed, it's a whole other world.

My question is: for those of us who signed up for Premium Plus, are we going to get an extra stipend or something for the loss of land use for the last 8-9 months (so far). We're paying for what we aren't getting.

People who only want the bigger houses are better off waiting to upgrade until the houses are ready. A lot of people have done just that and are waiting. The early upgrade was really for people who wanted the currently available stuff (free uploads, pick a house, more groups).

Going back to regular premium is the sensible thing to do for you. Upgrading again would take only a few minutes, so can be done when the final regions are being placed prior to release.
