I'm not asking for a sample of a finished product am I? I am just seeking clarification on the comments Rod made in his blog.
When Rod announced in Dec that the Lab were going to be working on non related SL projects, I would like to think that this had been discussed internally beforehand. I would like to think that in Dec, LL had some sort of plan on the drawing board for what they were going to be working on this year. I would like to think that some discussion has been had internally since then, even if no progress has been made on an end product. I would like to think that Rod himself had some vague idea in his brain of the products he was referring to in his blog post.
There is knowledge to be had inside Linden Labs and I am simply asking if anyone can expand further on Rod's blog post. This forum used to be full of people who seem to able to lay their hands on insider info or had the ear of a Linden. HIstorically LL has been very leaky in the past.
I asked for facts, maybe that was wrong. How about credibly sourced rumors.
Failing that, how about some credible theories?

It's been nearly 2 months since Rod announced
"we will be launching some completely different products next year not related to Second Life. Some of them will be very experimental, but all will fit within our company’s proud history of enabling creativity, which I hope may interest some of you."
So is anyone any the wiser? Have any facts come out since then?
What are they up to?

Inworld search went to hell because LL purchased a search engine that was not able to effectively index parcels in SL. When they rolled out GSA it was immediately obvious there was a problem as we were presented with non logical search results. Rather than adapting the search engine to accomodate SL they started removing factors that would not fit with the new search engine. It seemed to me like they were trying shove a square peg into a round hole. It just never worked. The only reason we have had any relevant search results over the past few years is either by luck or because people have been forced to game their parcels back into the top few pages on their respective keywords. Things have improved recently with the new search engine, things are allot easier and for the first time in years I felt like I was "optimising" my parcels to get to page one rather than "gaming". However it may be too littke tate as poeple have lost confidence in inworld search. As Rene mentioned as well, the search button isn't exactly prominant in the viewer nowadays and LL are focused on pushing the MP over inworld search.

Wagon Wheels were like the holy grail of the biscuit world when I was a nipper.
1 They were massive! Couldn't even dunk them unless you had a novelty giant mug.
2. They had buscuit in them
3. They had jam in them,
4 They had chocolate in them.
A worthy candidate for the best biscuit ever I think.
I bought some recently from the local spar. I am sure they got allot smaller.

It is my belief that if we had an effective search engine in world that allowed people a fair chance of exposure to their business then there would not be anywhere near as much business funneled through the MP and the amount of land retained for commercial purposes would be allot greater. We could return to the days when people actually made an effort to build creative stores and shopping experiences, putting thought into how to best present their products and engage their customers rather than just relying on a bog standard uninspiring 2d website that is prone to delivery failures and overly delayed delivery times.
Call me crazy, but I think selling 3D content in a 3D world is a thing to be embraced. Relying on a 2d website to sell 3D content, when there is a big old virtual world out there, cheapens the whole potential of SL.
There is a place in SL for the MP, but it should be there to support in-world businesses IMO. It used to be that way and the only reason it is not now is because of the problems with in-world search that have persisted for years now. That is 100% LL's fault.

I completely agree with this analysis. I can't believe that any employees at the company have not floated this opinion around the Lab, they must be aware of the impact this is having on the occupancy of commercial plots and regions in world.
So what are they doing about it?
They are ignoring the problem and bringing in Direct Delivery to make the marketplace more efficient

Are there any 100% mesh regions out there yet? I've seen individual builds and plots but nothing done on a grand scale.

When I was a poor and humble student and couldn't afford to buy real chocolate Digestives, I used to buy Rich Tea biscuits then "borrow" some chocolate spread from the communal kitchen in the halls of residence.
Just spread the chocolate spread on the Rich Tea and voila, you have yourself a home made chocolate biscuit.
There is a free biscuit related tip for you all.
I should definitely write a book about my vast biscuit knowledge. This time next year I could be a millionaire Rodders.

Milk is a biscuits friend, so milk based discussion will be allowed. Milk can be a good alternative dunking choice if you need to dunk a biscuit in a hurry and haven't got time for the kettle to boil. I had a pleaseant experience dunking some Maryland cookies in some milk in 2003. I won't forget that in a hurry I tell you.
You are also wise to warn of the perils of biscuit eating. Everything in moderation. You only need to dunk a few., Don't go mental and eat the whole pack.

Wow...bags of broken biscuits! I had completely forgotton about them. I would always rummage through the bag to find the best ones before my brother ate them, but sometimes he would pre-empt me, and would come along and lick all the best ones then put them back in the bag.
HOW DARE HE DEFILE THE BUSCUITS !!
I think I might buy a nice selection of biscuits, cut out pictures of his face, tape them to the biscuit packets, then get a baseball bat and smash them to bits. Then lick them all, then maybe wipe a few on my arse crack, then bag em up and send them to him as a mystery gift for valentines day.
Hopefully getting my revenge will help me deal with some of my unresolved internal biscuit issues.

I saw this question a while ago on a website. It has plagued me ever since.
It's a tricky question, I have spent many a sleepless night pondering it. The choices are endless and there are lots of factors to take in to account such as taste, structural integrity, crumbage thresholds and don't even get me started on the physics surrounding dunking.. So after much deliberation I am proud to announce to the world that my favourite biscuit is - Drumroll.........................Ginger nuts!!
(although I am partial to a nice jammy dodger).

I feel your pain and share your grievances. I have been selling prefabs since 2005. I used to focus heavily on the noob prefab market back then and had 15 builds suitable for 512 sqm plots. When Linden Homes launched, LL went into direct competition with me and they won, sales on 512 sqm builds dropped by nearly half within 6 months of Linden Homes being launched. I had to switch my focus to bigger builds to fill the gap. They were/are offering 512 sqm plots with double the prim count! How can we compete with that? They awarded themselves an unfair advantage. New users who would normally have spent that premium 512 sqm land allocation on a mainland plot and bought a prefab were effectively hustled away by LL. In one move LL gave a big "F U" to the prefab sellers, furniture sellers and land renters.
However, for people like us who have been around for a long time doing business in SL, we should have learned a fundamental lesson long ago, and that is LL will try and bone us at every opportunity. A key part of doing good business here is having the ability to be adaptable and to roll with the punches. Eventually we will all take a punch on the chin and LL will knock us out cold, but for now I'm gonna keep on dodging and adapting.
