  1. This has been happening to me too. Ill be in the middle of setting animations and go to move the adjuster bar and boom crash. lately it's been happening A LOT. I don't know what's going on but it sucks. it sends in those crash reports so hopefully they are aware. It doesn't happen with the SL viewer, so I can't put the blame on SL and I have a ery new Alienware PC that handles pretty much everything perfectly...even SL up until the last few weeks.

  2. I don't know if you guys have seen this or not, but I guess technically us merchants can now advertise on the SL website. Granted it's through Google ads...but apparently if you don't want to wait for them to put that option in, you can just go submit a google ad and peddle your wares the same way the other ads are. I wonder how succesful these are.

Well sadly, unlisting, changing category then relisting didn't make a bit of difference - I still have mini dresses stuck in the bikinis category.  *sigh*

I guess it's time for a support ticket, or can we do Live Chat for issues like this?

Seriously beginning to question if any of this is worth the effort.

There are a lot of people that share your sentiment and is why I push my in world sales so hard. I'mm tired of relying on this 3rd party sales tool. Good luck to you!

OTOH get those items by merchants who are no longer in sL but still have fun stuff before the deadline. i.e. A Touch Of Ireland

Yes, I just searched for All Categories - Oldest First. Here are avatars from 2004. Among the oldest is of course Apotheus Silverman, the creator of Magic Boxes. He has moved over DD. Most of the rest are
probably the original Xstreet merchants and
have left SL.  These items should all be gone after the next deadline. Shame about stores like A Touch Of Ireland though.

Ya I guess the next deadline will be the biggest cut since it affects all prices. I wasn't able to find any non MB listings in the 0-10 range. I guess there just weren't as many as I thought.

You would think Touch of Ireland avi would jump in and do it. They have to be making a decent bit of money. I surely would login just to do it and keep the income coming in.

  7. ya I agree. But if they really want to be jerks about it, ok if it's an actual item your avatar can drink I can maybe go along with it. But just because it's in the picture and not even designated as alcohol, it should not just be assumed it's alcohol.

  8. I'm a few days late in responding to this, but if you want to see something like this in action you should most definitely go visit Alchemy Cyannis's sim. She has a really adorable bakery and is doing exactly this thing. I bought one of the petite fours set's she has and it gives out the item for RP purposes but also gives out the recipe. It's the most well done I've seen anyone do it...and a few have done it over the years. I don't think she sells them through the marketplace just her store so you'd have to actually go there. Definitely worth a look see if you are looking for ideas on it. I don't know if this URL is still accurate but this is what is listed on her marketplace listings http://slurl.com/secondlife/Alchemy%20Immortalis/67/46/65/

  9. I think the mature listings are stupid. And they make no sense. I had a listing get marked as mature a few days ago because I had a wine bottle in the picture, not in the keywords and nowhere mentioned in the ad. I think it's horsecrap. Do we really need to have an item marked as mature simply because we have a bottle of wine in the picture? It's not like you can drink it.

When I ask for help, as I do, say, in the Mesh forum here, I often specify I am requesting "the Dummies version" or some variation on that theme. In fact Drongle euphemisticaly will  dumb down his explanations  saying "I know you don't like math" LOL.

So when requesting help, would you consider asking for "the retarded version" as opposed to "the dummies" version? They are both tantamount to the same thing and equally offensive. Or would you not have an issue referring to yourself as a retard?

This is in no way meant as an insult as you are obviously not a dummy/retarded.

No they aren't the same thing at all. There is no famous brand name of books that practically everyone knows about "for retards". Besides at least from my perspective...calling someone a dummy is a sound term used to describe a person who lacks knowledge. Calling someone a "retard" would be offensive because it's a slang term and is used to describe a handicapped person. In fact, it should offend someone who is mentally handicapped. The term dummie, isn't used to described a mental handicap. Not even in the caliber of insults (if you want to call them that).

Honestly, if something offends someone the best thing to do is stay away from it. Kinda like all those people who say they are so offended by seeing or hearing certain things. Offended by adult TV...don't watch it. Offended by porn on the internet?...don't search for it. Offended by the use of "God" in pledge of allegiance...don't say it. Offended by the title of this thread?...don't read it.

  11. There are two major differences as far as I'm concerned, one negative and one positive.

On the negative side is the number of users. It's nowhere near what SL has. I made an account last year to try it out because I wanted to try and sell my things there as well, but even with the low cost of getting a sim, I still couldn't justify spending money in a world where no matter what landmark or sim I went to, it was like a ghost town.  I tried hard to find busy places but was unsuccessful.

The positive side is the cheaper cost of doing business there. Honestly if they could increase the traffic, I would add it as a second home for sure and most definitely would open up for business there. I log in every few months to see if there are any changes in traffic but so far no increase.

The actual grid, viewer, etc I didn't really find anything negative about. It was like SL only 6 or more years ago (which I actually kinda liked for nostalgia). I also was greeted upon creating my account by someone really nice and helped me get my avatar in shape with a freebie store. So very helpful people I thought.

There must be so many insulted people out there. I'm surprised the success of all these books :smileyfrustrated:

I couldn't agree more with your sarcasm :) . Having grown up with these books since they first came out, I'm really surprised anyone got offended by the title of the thread. I mean you'd have to be living under a rock to not know what the OP's intention with the thread was. The "For Dummies" series has always been a great book to use to learn something when you want to get down to it and learn something quick. I don't look at those books or this thread as insulting my intelligence at all. Why? Because one random thread on the internet, not even directed at me specifically, does not concern me, it's not even about me. I know what my intelligence level is and I don't have any insecurities about myself that I would let a random thread title dictate what that level is. Ok, if someone made a thread that say "Deja you dummy this one is for you" then ya, I might get a bit put off by it. But that is a direct insult to me personally. And I wouldn't be offended, I would just think you're a @sshat.  But it's not directed at any one person, and it's a national and well known brand for informational titles. I can look past it and see it for what it is...information. I guess you need a sense of humor to get over the title.

  13. Well my second transfer came through and apparently the dollar amount doesn't make a difference. Both of these were relatively fast. In fact, the higher dollar one was faster in business days than the lower dollar one. I have no explanation why it's taking longer for some but so far my longest one in the last year is only only 5 days and I regularly withdraw several times a month.

  14. Just my 2 cents but I don't think the title was meant to be offensive to anyone. I'm guessing it was simply a rehash of the old "for dummy's" series books. They are very popular, highly informative with stupid simple instructions. I own several. I'm just guessing of course but I'm thinking the title of thread was based off those books to let you know it's a helpful post like those books are.

Yes, I would most highly recommend the Gold Hunt and Fish Hunt which are easily the biggest grid-wide hunts in Second Life. My experiences and those of people I know have been very positive :matte-motes-agape:

They have about 30,000 active players per month. There's a huge social community behind it and they really combat and prevent bots!

I just went and checked out the gold hunt and fish hunt and put it on my land. That was quite an interesting experience. Talk about fast traffic.
