I started buying only bulk packs of men's work socks all in the same colour. No one ever sees my socks, and just why are socks made better for men than for women anyway? The heels and toes are reinforced and oh so very much more comfortable to wear.

I never thought about that.  I switched to solid black socks many years ago, just to not have too many mis-matches when one goes missing.  I only wear them with jeans and yoga slacks anyway.

/me makes a note to check out men's black crew socks

  2. Did you do an INSTANT BUY or BEST RATE BUY:

If you used the right side (Best Rate Buy), you put in an order to buy at a specific rate and it might take a while for that request to be met -- Buying L$ is buying from others that want to sell.  If you did use the right side, you can go to your LindeX History to find the (likely pending) order:

The LindeX Order History will show any pending (not filled) orders and you can cancel right there:

If the order is there, you can cancel the order -- and then resubmit with a more reasonable rate or use the left side of the Buy window for instant L$:

Peeve: people who apparently can't go grocery shopping without talking on a phone call the entire time.

I'm sometimes amazed at how little some people can manage to accomplish without their phone glued to their ear.

Worse than that is people who talk on their phone in the bathroom stall.

This one really makes me shake my head.  My husband does this at home sometimes, but thankfully not out in public.

My basket lays right on the edge of the dryer making it really easy to scoop everything into it..

I think that must be where people lose most of their socks.. From the dryer to where ever they do their folding.. That or while drying they get inside a shirt or pants or something like that..

I just always washed them in the towels load  so they don't have any hiding spots.. hehehe

I can't really ever remember losing any socks before to be honest....

I've lost them down behind the washer & dryer before.  Also, between the dryer and the wall.   Possibly from when I'm pulling stuff from the laundry chute into the basket.  The laundry chute sits right above the dryer, and I put my basket on top of the dryer under the shoot.  Every now and then the basket overflows.

Also........... I put nothing past the cats.

The majority of people that I ever even mention the forums to ask me, "what forums?" I don't think that many people really even know this resource is here.

It's always been that way.  A very small percentage of the SL user base has ever come to the forums.

  6. I understand WHY we don't have an off-topic area -- because LL doesn't want to moderate it.  Experience on other forums shows that the off-topic stuff often requires much more moderation effort and LL just doesn't want to do that.  Tis their house, so their rules, but I can still hate it and think negatively of them for it.

And no-one here asks the question: what is considered spam? I list my products on the marketplace with a standard keyword listing: slender, petite, shape, head brand, head model/name, body brand (model of body/bodies),female,avatar,demo (when it's the demo version). Am I keyword spamming, while I am listing keywords that are describing the product with keywords that people are using when they are looking for a shape?

If it is a BODY shape and you use Head brands, then yes it is keyword spam.

If it is a HEAD shape and you use Body brands, then yes that is keyword spam.

If you specify 'slender' for all of your shapes, but they are not all slender, then yes that is keyword spam.

If you specify 'petite' for all of your shapes, but they are not all petite then yes that is keyword spam.

The keywords are supposed to apply ONLY to the specific product they are used on.  Yes, it is more work for the Merchant, but it is better than getting all of your products delisted because you don't care about the rules.

    Peeve...social media in General.

    ^^ QFT

I closed my FB a long time ago.  My husband still has one, but mostly just uses it to chat with friends and his son.  Lil does have a FB that I created specifically for some of the give aways that creators do, but I haven't even used that one in ages.

I created a Twitter account years ago, but never used it. Created an Instagram account way back also, but, again, never used it. I even created an account on Nextdoor Neighbor - I think that's the name - but after I figured out that it was all just drama (like being in school all over again), I closed that account also.

I honestly see more harm coming from the various social media platforms than any good.

I would never joke with her about age because it was just too much on her mind all the time.

As you said, it's all about reading the room.  There are definitely some people that I would never joke with about age, my own mom included.

Got it! Crass jokes about politicians falling off bicycles, not giving a dollar to homeless people, etc. are fine, but crass jokes about cancer cross a line. Got it!

Jokes about politicians are almost always okay -- except where noted by Persephone.

Homeless jokes are probably an edge case - there are some that I would chuckle at and others that I would feel are too much.

I probably wouldn't do any jokes about illnesses at all.  Having any sort of medical condition pretty much just totally sucks, so I just think it is over the line to joke about such things.  Side note on that though - I do know folks that will make fun of their own medical issues as a way of keeping the negative feelings about it at bay.

Rolig mentioned growing old and while I am over the 60 hill, I still do laugh at most 'old people' jokes.  For me, it actually keeps me from getting depressed about my age.

Sorry about your health issues and I wish you godspeed in your recovery. I understand why this upset you.  But I think Love intends to hold up a mirror to those with a penchant for insensitive jokes. I know poverty firsthand and didn't find the homeless joke funny. I posted a poverty joke before; there's a difference between not knowing how to be rich by mispronouncing brand names you don't normally buy and not having enough money to pay rent.

While I have never been homeless, I grew up on the edge and it was a constant daily struggle and worry for most of my childhood.  However, I did still chuckle at the homeless joke.
