    What are the items for which Linden Lab doesn't charge VAT?

    Transactions in L$ between individual Residents are not subject to VAT. Linden Lab does not charge VAT for Annual Premium Membership subscriptions

    Annoyingly this page is still out of date, it says:  "Currently, only Residents who live in the European Union are charged VAT."

    The UK is obviously no longer part of the EU and hasn't been for years now, but of course VAT is still applicable to residents of the UK. (Rightly or wrongly - a discussion for another topic)

    It could also be viewer related. Before messing about with Firestorm, try the native SL viewer or maybe even Alchemy, the latter of which is optimised to make use of your GPU.

    Not necessarily. -  LL could make it so that the LSL function that facilitates the ejection process has a minimum permissible timer/delay, e.g. 5 seconds. Whether or not they should/should not do that is entirely a different subject altogether and perhaps not one for this thread.

    Not particularly a fan of this idea. It would make it less of a persistent virtual world and more of an instanced arena, making mainland more deserted. Already things come and go far too often, ever seen a nice fancy build only to revisit it a year later to find it's gone? An idea like this would do nothing to improve that, though I get the idea here is to improve privacy, so I guess the idea of maintaining a persistent virtual world is not your main goal but it is also one of the main reasons many love SL.

    That aside though, I don't see any significant benefit of your idea vs. a homestead etc which would have all the privacy benefits you mention. If you just want a private room so to speak, there's other alternatives online that cater just for that.
